Replying on here is difficult as you dont seem to be able to extricate yourself from the " 13 years syndrome"
I dont think there is anyone in this UK that dosent think that "there have been periods of difficulty in the past 13 years".

PROBABLY A HALF OF THEM now accept to a degree that we were very lucky to be in CREDIT when COVID struck!!!! Imagine we had not had austerity [ and it wasnt 10 years closer to 8 ] and were not attached to the EU with hands tied unable to fight our way through the first year of COVID and do our own thing. [when you look at our population density it is no wonder keeping 2m apart etc was so difficult!!! ] but we got the jab going pretty much first and recovery was not so long as it could have been. BUT hey that was around 10 years after the .GOV got voted in ...AND it was the second time they were elected after the dire mire that the outgoing Labour reign left us with ... the reason for Austerity!!!!

    OH deary me .............
BCRW the economy did go tits up for all of about a year... there were some silly antics with with changing leaders at the same time ... but what exactly caused it? I suppose you missed out on the fact the invasion of UKR caused massive spikes in fuel/ oil/ gas/ electric which in turn activated some of the labour MP'S TO JOIN PICKET LINES and support massive pay rises which in turn [ lost working hours etc LEFT THE ECONOMY IN A MORE DIRE STRAIT! than what it was! BUT what is it like now? you obviously dont get info from the right media sources [ pretty much all of them state similar ] and the main world finance experts have us doing nicely especially as the inflation rate is down to almost 2% from 11% or was it closer to 15% [ more than 1 way to work that one out!!!

SO what would you do to sort the immigration? [ public services / utilities ] all part of last comment? every aspect!

That’s a perfect description of you John, you fall for the Tory nonsense all the time. We are in a mess largely of their making. if you can’t see that there really is no reasoning with you.
If you’re argument was their way, is the best way to get out of the mess, I would disagree, but have respect for your opinion, but to suggest we aren’t in a mess is just plain bonkers.

Was there a couple of years ago on my birthday - 10th September - Gib Day!!

Book of Condolence for the Queen in the Town Hall with two coppers outside looking after the queue waiting to sign. Both Policemen looked like real Police Officers and were more than happy to engage with the public whilst obviously being aware of the security aspect of their presence.

Food and drink at decent prices and bottles of really good whisky at ridiculously low prices.

Nothing at all to dislike and I know of one ex-colleague who has moved there with two others seriously considering the same.

    Can’t wait to go back!!

It hasn’t been good at all.

Covid and the Russian invasion screwed the Tories, not the Labour Party.
If you think Starmer and co would have managed it better then I disagree.

As for me or you standing as an MP, it ain't happening.....we're too honest.

Got to love this board, posters trying to convince other posters where to vote. <laugh>.

Topped by one poster saying they don’t know who to vote, then replying and defending the Tories to anyone who dares suggest they have not been good. <laugh><laugh>.

I don’t think anyone will be casting their vote based upon what’s posted on here!
Many will vote Tory simply through fear of Lammy and Abbott.
I don’t like them either, but the Tories have Liz Truss - who did the most damage to our economy quicker than anyone before her in history, and is now sitting comfortably on her premiership pension in recognition of her ‘contribution’.

There’s a lot of voter apathy around and it’s hardly surprising
With all the demonstrations, strikes and conflict on our streets we, as a western democracy, seem to have lost our moral compass, humanity and the ability to see right from wrong

Peaceful demonstrations are the sign of a healthy democracy, and the exact opposite to apathy. Young people especially, should push against the status quo. What is unhealthy is a lack of respect. Respectful debate is the key. As a society we’ve lost respect.

Got to love this board, posters trying to convince other posters where to vote....... or think they are whimsical
and you always the odd one out that has to think they make funny comments, when in fact if their wit was s*** and didnt stink you could use it for toothpaste! ...........

personally I dont think anyone on here will actually have clue where to put their X ..unless of course they are inherit voters doing as the family tree always does ............ my polling station is just 6om from my house, and I CONFIRM PREVIOUSLY STATED ...I am unlikely to vote. BUT I am also a realist, dealing with facts and strings of events and I feel sad for those that are bitter toward being not able to to see through the smoke to the fire.................

    Keir Starmer.........

In terms of policies, he repeated promises - if elected - to launch a new border security unit to crack down on small boat crossings ..... armed with harpoons? / tow ropes to take them back to France? ..... chargethem a landing fee of £10k????

    Rishi Sunak ............
national service in other countries showed "just how fulfilling it is for young people". Opposition parties have described the initiative as a "gimmick". ... whats your opinion ?

I've decided to vote Conservative, not with conviction but through sheer dread of Labour or the Liberals.

The 400 BILLION spent on Covid and the Russian invasion of Ukraine screwed this present government.

Its beyond belief Starmer, Lammy and co would have done any better.
If and when Starmer wins we can look forward to the politics of envy and breakfasts with the Union Barons.

looking at the wider picture you are spot on .. for them to have done "equal or better" would mean they would have been in power!!! from year 5 of the austerity! .. typical labour at the time would have sunk Brexit borrowed £bns to "right" the efforts of the austerity package ...which no one on here can say didnt work although it was a tough time for all and sacrifices had to be made!
typical Labour methodology is to borrow their way through things so in 2020 would likely have been sinking deeply into the red so covid would have no money to spend on keeping jobs or expressing through vaccines [ moneywise and tied to euro beauocracy ] and borrowing even deeper than the tories had to ... AND they had just finished getting rid of the labour debt and were in the black! having already committed £xbn to police hospitals etc.............

I am just getting back to pre covid levels of financial soundness my draw down pension pot is now only <15% below 2019 level and at worst it was 53% down!!!

Good your finances are back to pre Covid levels, think of the poor bastards that have a mortgage and were screwed by Truss, and to think Sunak came second in a two horse race against her.

    Don’t forget the greens
who seem to have been hihacked by the Muslim pro Hamas brigade
Seems the election will be fought not on what OUR country needs, but on a foreign war thousands of miles away
As for all the hot air from Labour, they do realise that there is no crock of gold waiting for them do they and do they realise the country is bankrupt ?
I dare say they’ll give illegal immigrants the vote soon as long as they vote Labour too !
Similar tactics are being used by the Democrats in the USA

So…. After 14 years you accept we are bankrupt, and your argument is …we should vote for the party that oversaw that…. Wow !!
