I didn’t watch it as it was way past my bedtime But I have seen the footage of when he rocked him. But Fury thought he won. "I believe he won a few of the rounds, but I won the majority," a defiant Fury said in the ring. "His country is at war, so people are siding with the country at war. Make no mistake, I won that fight in my opinion." "It was one of the daftest decisions in boxing. I'll be back."
I thought it was going to be a bore-fest, so was pleasantly surprised. Fury looked out of ideas. If Usyk beats him in the rematch hopefully he will retire and leave us alone.
Yeah, but only Fury and one (very dodgy) judge thought he had. In the cold light of day and away from the cameras, he'll know that he was well beaten. He had three decent rounds in the middle of the fight where I thought he was taking control, but Usyk came back at him, and then some. He was totally outboxed last night, and that round 9 I will never know how he didn't go down (or how the ref didn't stop it).
He was remembered this weekend . Apologies if you already knew this , Ayrton had an Austrian flag in the cockpit with him , to put out when he crossed the line .
My friend who I watched the fight with said there might have been a clause in the contract that guaranteed a rematch in the event of a split decision. I’m not a boxing fan, but I couldn’t see how Fury won any rounds at all, they were all either Usyk’s or even. As you say, Fury was out on his feet in Round 9 and couldn’t defend himself, which I always thought meant the ref had to stop the contest. I actually thought the previous fight was more entertaining, as at least they were both trying to knock the other guy out!
There is a guaranteed rematch clause for whoever lost I think. At least that’s what they kept saying on the commentary I was watching I had Usyk a couple of rounds ahead. Think Fury got his tactics wrong and should’ve really tried to impose himself with the size difference but seemed to back off whenever he looked like he might have Usyk in trouble. Was a good fight and I give Fury a decent chance in the rematch
Yes, the IBF will immediately strip. AJ will fight the winner of Hrgovic/Dubois for the vacant IBF belt.
I think the IBF had already stripped Fury before the match, as he was only announced as the WBC champion.
Leclerc seriously quick at Monaco again. 0.5s quicker than Verstappen, and even his medium tyre run was quick enough for third. So expect Ferrari to cock it up somehow.
Yeah really surprised. He looked a bit ropey against Zhang, but I thought he was the better fighter. Loving zhangs ring walk. Eye of the tiger with intermittent samples of Zhang saying “I bang you”
