Things can always change. At the end of the day, if Still goes to Norwich, they have sacked their manager, identified a target and are seemingly looking favourites to get him. Probably told him he can being whomever he likes with him, probably more money for him personally, possibly a canny transfer kitty and a say on what players come in. In reality we know nothing about Still, but he is a symbol of frustration it seems of how the club tight "Modle" can be and is and how we'll probably never get number one targets because the "modle" dictates how many sugars the coach can have in his tea. The information I was getting was from lads that have always posted in good faith and always get solid information. The only thing predictable is the unpredictability of people. The football World got excited over a bloke that sat around with a tactics board telling a story of how he masterminded a draw with PSGs B team.As I have said above, people's "Meltdowns" are more of how we sacked a first team coach that no-one wanted and wasn't reportedly our first choice over 100 days ago. Naturally we wait and see as it's still early day, but if it isn't Still, God help the bloke that gets the job.
Probably best. There has been a lot of media hype about Still so getting him would have been a PR coup. There may well be someone out there who is a better fit.
https://www.sunderlandecho.com/spor...-decision-amid-cats-and-norwich-links-4638569 Make of this what you will, but reading between the lines is he became a pain in the arse.
We're talking specifically about the recruitment of a Head Coach on this thread. Your only contribution to that is complete supposition about Will Still. I ask again - what is he doing wrong?
Has your contact confirmed that something adverse has happened mate, or are people just reacting to a post from Fishpaste, who, let's face it, has got just as much wrong as he's got right?
Agreed. Too many people basing their opinions on twitter rumours. Even credible journalists like Michael Walker are relying on tid-bits from twitter randoms.
I like him, I think he comes across well. He definitely had Hull playing with an identity but that identity received criticism in the end (that's subjective though). My issue with his appointment would be: 1) If Hull dont think he's good enough, then why do we if we are aiming for similar if not more than Hull. 2) It's extremely unlikely he was ever on our list of potential head coaches, let alone near the top as he wasnt expected to be available until a couple of weeks ago. Which leaves me asking, what has happened with targets we have identified since February and the fact we couldnt get one in, concerns me about whether the 'model' is not flexible enough to attract higher profile managers. Of course there's a possibility that once he was unexpectedly available that he turned out to be be the best candidate. But then I'd say what pool of managers were we looking at if someone like Rosenior is the stand out candidate, would imagine it being a pretty low profile shortlist with all due respect to Rosenior.
Yeah, we missed Amad. Gelhardt did an alright job as well - gave us more as a CF than any of the summer signings.
All good points mate, think his job at hull is underrated because he spent some money and just fell short, they were in a similar place to us this season when he took over, would he be my first choice? No, would he galvanise the fan base? Probably not, but I think he’d do a solid job none the less, provided we give him the tools but that goes for whoever we bring in
Lets pretend we know the short list. In order is was: 1. Still 2. Maric 3. Svensson Now, it turns out Still is too expensive (this is before he's sacked) so we turn to Maric. Now, Maric might fancy the job, but would you leave Bayern Munich for Sunderland? Would Bayern even let him go? He has 1st team responsibilities and are maybe demanding silly money. In the meantime there is talk he's been promoted at Bayern, so now there is no chance of him coming. So, we move on to Svensson, who appears to be holding out for other European jobs (who could blame him?) so we go back to Still who is unexpectedly available, but he too is holding out to see what lower end PL/top end Champo jobs come up. Still comes to see us, but wants to talk to Norwich too. Then the Kompany/Maresca/McKenna rumours start and he's thinking "I might have a shot of a PL team here, or at least a top end Championship with parachute money". So. Let's play that game and ask what the club have done wrong in the above (fictional) scenario?
Just looked at his account and he's shared that 'manager to do list' vid so I refuse to believe anything he says.
