I think the plan is to use the loan market to its full, alongside that bring in each window two or three good players like Omur to slowly minimise the need for loan players over time. This seems to be the only way you can build a team, compete with clubs with parachute payments, and remain inside the FFP rules.

More than two weeks after Liam Rosenior's sudden departure from the MKM Stadium, Hull City remain without a replacement for the 39-year-old. City had hoped to have Tim Walter appointed by now and naturally, given what happened with Pedro Martins in October 2022, there's an understandable concern amongst some supporters that things have gone worryingly quiet. Hull Live understands talks with Walter, the former Hamburg head coach, have been positive and while contracts have not yet been signed, a verbal agreement is in place for the 48-year-old German to replace Rosenior and the expectation on both sides is that the deal will be completed. It's understood City are working on final confirmation towards the end of next week with a possibility of Walter's first press conference taking place in the first few days of June alongside owner Acun Ilicali. The Tigers hierarchy are relaxed about the situation and so, too, is Walter, who is currently enjoying some time with his family before making the move to East Yorkshire. Discussions over player recruitment have taken place with the incoming new boss and work is ongoing in the background with as many as 10 new players being line up, with Walter's approval, to give him a squad capable of mounting a challenge for the play-offs next season. Walter's Hamburg assistant Julian Hübner will join him at the MKM Stadium and Hull Live understands that houses and schools in the area have already been scoped out by the pair ahead of their move across. Club legend Andy Dawson, who was promoted from the academy to the first team setup under Shota Arveladze two years ago and proved to be a key part of Rosenior's backroom staff, will remain at City and form part of Walter's backroom team. Meanwhile, owner Ilicali is on the verge of being named as vice-chairman of Fenerbahce alongside Ali Koc with that agreement and presentation expected to take place in Istanbul next week.

Kieran McKenna's representatives remain in talks with Chelsea and Brighton, with the Ipswich manager thought to prefer a move to Stamford Bridge at this stage. McKenna is also on Manchester United's shortlist to replace Erik ten Hag if he leaves. Popular fella.
