When looked at holistically, 'should' is doing some heavy lifting there. I think what is still needed, is a full understanding of the supposed problem to be resolved rather than what is more a political tool.
Ye maybe, but decarbonising of energy production is happening now.. the investment is there - National Grid shareholders and customers are paying £8-30 billion for wind turbine infrastructure over the next 10 years. No longer just politics, it's corporate strategy.
Of course it’s a made-up sketch but your response says more about you than anything else. You don’t seem to have much time for pensioners. There are plenty who are articulate, agile and numerate and could quite easily give someone a mouthful off the cuff while using their payment card without having to fumble for it, many of them on this board.
I think the youth being far more climate aware can only be a good thing, hopefully it will lead to better decisions being made in the future. The youth certainly don't have an exclusive on doom mongering either, most of those Just Stop Oil nutters seem to be in their eighties.
As long as their 'awareness' is accurate and based on facts. Sadly, that is often not the case. It's hard to blame them, as the media and academia are not exactly offering the full picture. Advocating very financially and socially costly actions needs to be based on a firm premise from the start, not just some media soundbites or false/biased information. A look into the actual data that is supposed to inform the IPCC reports can be quite revealing, as can a look at how that report itself is compiled.
I'm feeling a little warm and just had to remove my jumper. I can only conclude that the world is ending and cars should be banned. #votegreen #blm #FBPE
Then they should start posting, Plum! It was meant in jest. I'll be a pensioner in 5 years as recently decided to retire at 60. Already looking forward to putting my card in the wrong way round at the supermarket till.
Well, at 74 years of age I can put cards in the correct way round. Though use my phone to pay normally. Don’t be afraid of modern day technology.
No. You not using plastic straws will mean that someone 300 years from now doesn't have to scoop them out the sea or dig them up from landfill.
Yes maybe if they're not recycled. But then not the straws... Any reduction of plastic waste is a positive. This thread is incredible.. any form of positive change that will clearly benefit future generations and, if honest, is very little effort to change, is mocked, denigrated or a fictitious story involving an erudite pensioner is created to discount it. Same on the electric car thread... A total reluctance to change.. surely no one can believe that using fossil fuels is a good thing for the future.
