Got the new badge as a tattoo but would prefer the old batch to be re introduced.

I posted a thread about our badge last November. Maybe these could be merged?

Aren't we having 3 different badges on the 3 different kits next season? Even if we introduce new badge next season we can still have any badges from our history on any of our kits can't we?

Technically, we could have a club crest that doesn't go on the strip, just choose the retro ones.

What if they sold the strips without a badge on and you could choose which one from our entire history that you want to put on the club shop? New home strip with the 1937 badge on please marra. 1937 strip with the ship badge on please marra etc...... just chucking some thoughts out there.

Just for a bit of fun i asked ChatGPT to come up with a new badge. It didn’t do an image but came up with the concept below. I quite like some of the ideas.

Creating a new club badge for Sunderland Football Club involves respecting the club's rich history while introducing fresh elements to represent its future. Here’s a conceptual design description:

    ### Sunderland AFC New Badge Concept

    #### Shape and Outline:
    - **Shield Shape:** Retain the traditional shield shape to maintain a sense of continuity and heritage.
    - **Scroll at the Bottom:** Include a scroll banner at the bottom for the club's name, "Sunderland AFC," in bold, classic typeface.

    #### Central Elements:
    - **Lighthouse:** Place a stylized lighthouse in the center, representing Sunderland's maritime heritage and the iconic Roker Pier lighthouse.
    - **Bridge:** Integrate the silhouette of the Wearmouth Bridge above the lighthouse, symbolizing the connection between the club and the city.

    #### Background:
    - **Red and White Stripes:** The background of the shield features red and white vertical stripes, paying homage to the club's traditional colors.

    #### Additional Elements:
    - **Black Cats:** Flank the lighthouse with two black cats, the club's mascot, positioned on either side, adding a dynamic and local touch.
    - **Coal Mining Symbol:** Incorporate a subtle nod to the city's coal mining history with crossed pickaxes behind the lighthouse.

    #### Colors:
    - **Primary Colors:** Red, white, and black as the main colors, ensuring the badge is instantly recognizable and distinct.
    - **Gold Accents:** Use gold for outlines and highlights to add a touch of prestige and elegance.

    #### Motto:
    - **In the Scroll Banner:** Include the club's motto, "Consectatio Excellentiae" (Pursuit of Excellence), beneath the club's name for a message of ambition and pride.

This design blends Sunderland’s historical symbols with modern elements, creating a badge that honors the past while looking forward to the future.

Big fan of the two from 66-77, simple and effective.

I really like the first 2 tbh, they look like a proper classy 'crest'. Would love to have the option to mix and match the strips with the badge and make it a bit bespoke.

Personally I'd go with a mix of the '77 and '97 badges. The simplicity of the '77 with the colour scheme of the'97 (with some blue accents) and a mix of the content of both.

I think we can do away with the fiddly stuff on top and potentially the lions. For me it's more of a nickname than something I really associate with the club, I'm not sure I've ever described us as the black cats to anyone else.

Nice clean red white and gold badge featuring Penshaw and the ship from the '77 badge on a blue background would look great and tick a few boxes.

Something like this, please excuse my childish scribbling. That's supposed to be the iconic ship in the bottom right.

I really like the current one as it shows some of the history of the region with Penshaw and the bridge you then have the old pit wheel representing the mining communities the other 2 sectors I would like to see something to do with the shipbuilding industry and maybe a black cat added into the final space.
I also really like the original badge as well. TBH I like them all and the mix and match scenario would be great but is probably a bit of a logistical nightmare for kit producers who will be set up for mass production, However I think if the club shop offered this as a service to maybe have these added onto the sleeves of your kit that may well be a good money spinner.
