The excellent work of the Withernsea/Easington Tigers. A touch of quality, as all the City fanzines were at a time when the rest of the club was ran like a drunk in charge of a whelk stall.
Great post John. John Boyle was the one who (in)famously handled on the line, though not from this attack according to the caption.
I bumped into Andy Davison in Grandways in Anlaby once years later, and he still could not forgive Jack Taylor for not giving a penalty.
I was a regular there for tennis rackets ,golf clubs and football gear. imagine calling a shop asbestos nowadays
Self-imposed ban for quite some time now, City til I die. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
Said it then and I'll say it again now, if we had 10,000 fans like Dave Dewberry during those troubled times the club wouldn't have been in the state it was in. Instead of banning him they should have given him a job at the club.
Paul McNally on the left of the picture. Hadn’t seen him for a long time and bumped into him on East Stand Concourse. Was still travelling from Wakefield despite a number of operations for cancer, from which he passed away not too long after I saw him.
Stood with him, and others, next to the tunnel in the Well for a couple seasons. Some fans think managers nowadays get lots of abuse, sod all to what was thrown at Mike Smith from the Well. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
I was always stood there with him and his brother Shaun, Olly, Shaun the Mental, Dave Dewberry,, Sodge and others. One of the main attractions was easy access to the social club for a pint. “Knit one purl one, Cyril Lea”
I remember Micky Horswill throwing a bucket of water over us all one game. All kicked off then, players and staff fighting with fans who had supported the club all their lives, bottom of Div 4 with 3,000 in the ground. Most of us who are still breathing are still there, all those players and staff are long gone. Just as Dave Dewberry said about Robinson in the article. ps; Hope someone can dig out the HDM piece about 'fans humming the death march as the teams ran out onto the pitch' As if.
Peo (RIP) ex Monte Carlo is on there right in the middle looking ahead, Dave Dewberry is holding the flag up at the right hand corner and stood behind him with the long hair could be Rob Walmsley who owns the Prince Of Wales pub in Essex. I recognise a couple more of the faces but the names escape me.
