Any one who says the Championship is better, yes you win more games as Hull City, but cast your minds back to our first ever Division One/Premiership game, boiling hot, Football Focus live from the KC, Duffen ringing the bell for Tigers fans past and present, gulp, we were playing Fulham, ok not the greatest team to start with, but we had a Brazilian, a Brazilian! Geovanni, who scored, we won. Remember the roar at the final whistle, a mere 6 and a bit years after leaving Boothferry Park we were in the greatest league in the World. That day will never be repeated, we will probably never win the Premiership, but if we get back there, there will be days like Fulham, Arsenal, Liverpool, yeah if you think the Championship is better, think back to Fulham, it definately isn’t.
At least two of the three teams relegated had a plan to go down and be better prepared next time they were promoted. Brentford and Brighton have made the transition well.
Looks like Wagner was getting the push even if they’d have got promoted. Sacked because his style of play was considered to negative….crazy eh
Huddersfield didnt score a goal in the playoffs they got promoted Wagner had a major fluke and thats it
Boro supporting family and friends all like the Championship, and that predates VAR. Like us, they still get excited if doing well, but they have a rubbish record in the playoffs so don’t get too carried away. .

A discussion we had with some Bolton fans in our first season in premier has always stuck in my mind. They were a group who had supported them for years. Bolton were a well established in mid table of the premier league at this point. They weren’t going to renew their passes, as it was totally boring. Not the football, just mid table mediocrity every season. That would have included playing in Europe, watching JJ In his plomp. I remember thinking at the time a lot of City supporters would have relished that. I wonder what the Bolton supporters thoughts are now? I recall we had a ridiculous (and maybe unique?) run of seasons with something to play for until the final games. Started with successive promotions when we first moved into the KC, from Div 4 (whatever it’s called). Then a relegation battle in championship when TWS were relegated, followed by promotion via play offs followed by two relegation battles in premier league. We then yo-yo’ d for a few years, until Allams pulled the plug on any ambition. I can’t be bothered to look it up, but must have been 10-12 years of challenging for promotion/ relegation scrap until the last few games.
Yeah I do understand that. I think you can only judge how you feel about that if/when you get there. I’d like to think I’d just enjoy the games and challenging the top teams, striving to see how far you go. I think a cup run helps, always, to keep a season interesting.
I always think that people overstate the enjoyability of the Championship. It might be great for a neutral, but I think as a supporter it's as frustrating as any other league. It's not like we've been routinely winning and going home happy over the years since our last PL stint is it? It's been well publicised that we don't win at home often, in fact we haven't done since Nigel Adkins was manager. I think people love the idea of the Championship more than the reality of it for a supporter. I think VAR is the only really compelling argument against being in the PL.
I like the Championship because we go into every game thinking we have a chance to win. We wouldn't have that in the PL.
For me the biggest argument against the PL isn't the smaller fish in the bigger pond, or even the VAR - it's more of a local issue... Local, born and bred Hull tosspots - plastics for big clubs, sneaking into the home areas or casually walking to the MKM to go in the away end draped in their finest £80+ arse wipes from the 'big clubs'. The mad rush of spunk guzzlers in the home areas, in Hull City colours no less, that rush to the front at full time to get the opposition players' autographs... Ugh.
