Peru have brought in legislation that ensures anyone who has issues around their gender identity received help and support - including mental health counselling- before they make any firm decision on their gender . As issues around gender identity affect people’s mental health , it is off course treated as such. However , Peru is a traditional catholic country and does not fully support LBTG rights like same sex marriage etc, so them offering mental health support to those with gender identity issues is progressive.
