Too complicated to modify a flawed system. The beauty of football is the simplicity and tempo. VAR has killed that. Just get rid and try to forget the past 5 years.
I'd rather take human error than trying to enforce VAR any longer ... let's be done with that ****. Our relegation really drummed home to me how much it sours and ruins the experience.
Why don’t they get the…y’know…consumers…now what are those pesky people called? Oh yes, fans…to vote?
I'd keep it, but only to help decipher between a foul or a dive, in the box. I'd scrap using it for handballs and offsides.
Watching the United Vs Newcastle game and somehow there was no penalty given for this tonight. **** VAR. Get rid of it. It's just boring now and killing the beautiful game.
You mean those insignificant plebs who, directly or indirectly, fork out most of the dosh that keeps the game going? No chance.
That was nothing to do with VAR. It wasn't given on the field so if there was no VAR it still wouldn't have been a pen.
Well that is exactly my point. They can't even get it right when VAR takes a long look at it. What is the point?
I’d keep the pitch side monitors for on field refs for clear and obvious errors that directly lead to goals. Get rid of the other refs. Limit the monitor use to 3 times per team.
you seem to be arguing the specifics of the use of VAR in this case rather than whether or not VAR should have awarded a pen for that. And VAR SHOULD have awarded a pen for that, and if the ref had been called over to have a look he would have awarded a pen for that and the fact that neither of those things happen highlights how broken and fecking useless it is. Scrap it.
I think that the majority of us have no idea of the real purpose of VAR and that is why we hate it so much.
All that happens now is we used to come away from the game moaning about the ref, now we moan about VAR.
This is the whole issue of VAR for me. It removes the immediacy from the game. Football is different from other sports like cricket, rugby, or tennis, all of which have natural pauses and stoppages, during which a decision can be reviewed. VAR has made football unnecessarily more complicated than the simple, beautiful game it has been since the 19th century, and we have all seen the difference a season in the Championship without VAR has brought. Saints have scored 87 league goals this season, every one of which was celebrated as soon as the ref pointed to the centre spot. We didn’t have to wait more than a second to leap with joy, limbs aloft, whereas every Premier League goal since VAR was spawned has led to minutes on end of uncertainty. Keep goal line technology, improve the standard of refereeing generally, but ditch VAR. Burn it, scatter its ashes to the four winds, and chant oaths and curses upon its memory.
I always thought VAR was originally meant for gross errors, diving in the penalty area to try and win a penalty or for an obvious off side for example, not the forensic analysis of off sides by the smallest of margins.
When you see **** like this it just makes me feel like referees/officials have deliberately sabotaged it or been too afraid to call each others decisions out, there is no way you can't call that.
