As we’ve seen before we rely hugely on Adams hold up play when we play the usual system. Mara can’t do that as we’ve seen lots of times. If he’s not fit then I’m fine with Mara starting in this system as hopefully the full backs will be more the out ball rather than the central striker having to hold it up
Regardless of age, he’s been poor. However, not many options with Che out, so over to you Mara; show us what you can really do.
But everyone here hates him more than Mara, plus he’s only played there about five minutes this season.
We’re really having no luck with injuries at the key time. Stewart obviously can’t start yet, but hopefully he can do a half if needed. Mara wouldn’t even be in the match day squad if Che wasn’t injured, but this lineup seems about as good as we could hope for given the absentees.
Perhaps Russ has included Mara to give WBA's master tacticians something to think about. They'll have lots of plans to counter Che, but they will need to re-plan, to come up with a counter to Mara. Or they'll just read this thread, and realise that they've got nothing to worry about
