I'd love it (just love it) if he came back and started banging in the goals (like we know he can). Maybe that ship has already sailed from his side though. He seemed to really like it here but imo he was treated shabbily (in the way Rosenior dumped him, as he was entitled to do I guess but still feel it was a big mistake at the time).
Someone was saying we couldn’t get him back until December anyway due to the terms of the loan agreement
There was no way Oscar was going to fit into Rosie’s side. Oscar’s value was as a poacher. Chasing down defenders like a Lunatic which LR demanded wasn’t his game.
Why can't it be as simple as that? I think it is. Direct Line. End of drama. Sounds clear that Acun had gradually lost faith over the course of the weeks / months before the final game but that final game can only have cemented his view. Of course, Plymouth were fighting for their lives but we were so flat, lacking in attacking intensity, bizarre approach & decisions for a game where we needed a win and ideally an early goal or two to put pressure on West Brom (and even Norwich). We were back to being so poor, disappointing, frustrating. I was royally pissed off after that game, NOT because we didn't make play offs but by the decision making (Rosenior) and the nature of the performance (again). I can only suspect Acun felt similar.
I think this “there’s no Plan B” or “we play the same way every week” stuff is what narked me most last season, it was just so obviously nonsense. Yes we had a set way of starting games, but styles and formations often evolved through games. I pulled someone up on it the other day (AJB?) and they literally couldn’t comprehend what I was saying. Bizarre.
Yeah, I think it more than likely is too but I'm still curious and would like to know, certainly no drama.
We’re losing Carvalho, Morton, Delap, Greaves and possibly Philogene and the answer’s to recall Oscar and snap up Ohio? Nah - it’ll be scattergun signings and cross ya fingers again. With a new bloke in charge. Who doesn’t know the league. Clever. (Just my opinion of course. Are they still allowed)?
But there was a Plan B (and often a Plan C and beyond). Whether you think those were enough of a change from Plan A is a matter of opinion, but its incorrect to say we did the same thing over and over.
I disagree. When we needed a goal, most of Rosie’s subs would just be a matter of swapping out a like for like player to play in the exact same position. The only time he didn’t use the subs was that way was when we had a slender lead. He would then take off an attacker for a midfielder. More often than not, that tactic resulted in the other team scoring. There were 46 matches to choose from to give evidence where Rosie tactically changed something during the game, and his staunch defenders keep coming back to the same one or two matches
That's not true, in the last couple of pages of this thread - a number of different tactical switches have been mentioned and the Leicester game at home isn't even one of them.
Tbh I've read what a lot have to say about this potential new manager, and of Acuns want for attacking football. I don't know the fella, never seen Hamburg play, so can't really judge the bloke, but we've had similar in Slutsky, loveky fella but you can't attack the Championship kamakaze style and hope to fluke a promotion. Slots himself held his hands up in the end, too difficult to balance it, I fear from what I've read, if we do appoint this Wally fella, it'll be de ja vous ! For my money Rohl, if we could lure him from the massive is the kind of guy we need, someone who can put a team together that plays as a team and who is able to read games, knowing what to do to get the best out of what he has available. But hey ho, I didn't buy the club and fund em !
