Language was a big issue with Shota. Not just the grasp of English but also that he sort of spoke in riddles. Seemed a lovely bloke, I bumped into him in a coffee shop in Beverley and we had a long, pleasant chat, but at the same time it was bizarre (and I'm very used to talking with non Brits due to my ex work) so I'm accustomed to foreign versions of English but it was way more than that which made the discussion, like his interviews, odd).
More referencing they have at some point come from a “lesser” league. De Zerbi was in champions league with Shaktar yes. Frank came from Bronby. Silva came from Olympiakos before nearly keeping us up.
Started incredibly well and had the English media loving him because he said 'mate' a lot. They dropped off a lot and think he now understands you need a plan B and spurs aren't good enough to beat everyone with their plan A. Basically since mid November theyve been mid/upper mid table form, and that's with chelsea and United being gash
I think something that may have been overlooked as well is that when our form hit the brakes (think it was one win in eight over March) and we fell out of the playoffs, Acun didn't pull the trigger. People are saying he's made a rash decision or that this is baffling, but that period when we were struggling to even get forward, let alone get results could have seen Rosenior sacked then. But he gave Rosenior the chance to turn things around and after "the chat", results massively improved right up to Plymouth. I don't think this is a rushed decision, it comes across like it's been planned out for a while and a random name like Tim Walter (no offence Tim) doesn't just magically appear, they've been planning this for some time.
If he appoints Walter it will take me maybe 2/3 poor performances to turn on him, pulling some random name out from the continent is a ridiculous gamble.
Agree, but would interpret the 'planning for' as preparing for the possibility of dismissing him. As you say, I think they continued to give him chance. It seems clear enough, as Acun has said, that his doubts had been growing over a period of time from January onward resulting in the final decision being made more recently, but with scenario planning in place. I'd be amazed if that wasn't the case.
Hey I didn’t sack Liam just posting about the fellas record that’s what forums are for. Never heard of him prior to yesterday but it is what it is.
It seems to me that if they've been planning this for some time then they really should have had a much better candidate than Tim Walter* in mind. *I had no idea who he was before this week and still know almost nothing bar looking at his career to date.
I'm not a disciple of anybody. Got an open mind really. In an ideal world I'd love to see non stop attacking football, but the Championship is not an ideal world. I went to most of the home games and I could see the slow build ups were aggravating sone people whereby others could see what the tactics were in aid of. I pretty much think Acun, nice though he is, has chosen us as a kind of vanity project. He clearly gets bored too so that should be of concern to people
Rumoured by who - big Vern? Might have to wake up and smell the coffee when it come to BV's "announcements!"
