But they have to get round the fair and it ain't happening in a million years. It still doesn't mean there's enough land either.
Don't you think that Tan saying it's coming out of the playing budget means it's not exempt from ffp? Some things are, some things aren't but I would say pitch renewal was simply an operating cost, not an exempted investment. Whereas the academy development almost certainly is.
You're getting caught in the weeds on this discussion, the pitch was an example used to illustrate why an investment in Maribor rather than developing the Academy or training ground is a frustrating one. Plans being submitted for a bit of an upgrade on the grounds around the stadium doesn't cut it.
I wouldn't be so sure about that. Someone has to underwrite the SMC and there's rules about offshoring costs for FFP purposes these days. Loopholes have been closed somewhat.
It's not a loophole at all. It's a bona fide company, that manages the stadium and covers both clubs along with any events it puts on.
I'm sure whatever company owned by mel Morris who bought pride park was a bona fide company with outside commercial interests too. I think portfolio is now covered by ffp. Now if you want an education in profligate recruitment then go digging on Derby.
So you're saying costs associated with a Rugby League club are worn by us for FFP purposes? Don't be daft.
That's completely different. You're trying to make a mountain out of a molehill here, it's never counted for FFP as the football club pays a rental fee for the stadium which increases every year by about 10% and it doesn't go to the SMC, it goes to the council. It's pretty steep these days compared to what it was. The SMC then pays the running costs and receives a rental income from Hull FC and a few different commissions too.
I think the legal framework means the vast majority of costs would come from the football club, for right or wrong. It would be nice I'm sure if Adam Pearson could stump up half of the cost, but he isn't the one who has an interest in a bowling green surface in winter, and he hasn't got a pot to piss in anyway, even if we could force him to. The only way the pitch gets restructured and relayed this preseason is if the money comes from Acun Medya. Parent company of both Hull city and SMC.
In laymen's purposes it's completely different, but legal frameworks are usually an ass. The SMC has 2 tenants. If one is content with the current surface (and is coincidentally skint) and the other wishes to not just relay but restructure it too, then what's realistically gonna happen? Litigation. We might get our pitch relayed and send FC and Superstadium Management Co. bust in the process by sometime in 2029. Or we can swallow the cost and take financial responsibility ourselves. I suspect that we won't be able to just pass it off as an SMC cost, because there will almost be some existing or inevitable future documentation that FC are unable or unwilling to share the cost via the SMC.
Exactly this, Acun said in his talk with RH that we were top of the stats in passes in our own half. The problem with that is teams have time to get set behind the ball and difficult to break down, hence why for the most part at home we just didn't move the ball fast enough to punish teams before they could get back behind the ball.
I think the Turkey trip was quite possibly a contributor. I suggested at the time that Acun would be furious (gutted, embarrassed) by our performance v Curacao. He paid for an expensive trip, had 50+50 of our fans flown out there, it was put live on tv8, attracted a decent crowd thru his hype and making it free to attend ....then Rosenior chose to play a reserve / junior side and we saw a disappointing (being kind) performance. All that for what was massive damp squib. He must have been pissed off at the least. Just saying it was maybe one more thing that contributed to him changing his view on Rosenior.
I dunno if he so much as chose to do that as had most of the first team away on Internationals or needed to get fitness into Sharp and get a look at Pandur.
