I heard yesterday that cooper was keen on the brum job, since tan did that interview last week, brum have got relegated. So maybe cooper isn’t so keen and has given city a bit of encouragement. So maybe this has happened since Saturday….maybe
Yeah that pod makes it sound like it's Will Still. Another essentially unproven manager who will need time to get the squad up and running. So another season treading water.
You say that but Derby have done ok since and with the right appointment and a Chairman like Acun we will do ok too. If we get promoted next season doesnt that suggest both Derby and City were right to bin him off?
If we get promoted, it will be proven right, if we don't it will have been a mistake, we've a year to wait until we find out which it is. If Rosie gets another gig and gets someone promoted ahead of us, it will be proven to be monumentally stupid, would you bet against that happening?
I would happily bet against him getting anyone promoted to the Premier League in the near future. I dont see him getting a job outside of the bottom half clubs in the Championship. He might get a league 1 gig and bring a team up, who knows. If you wanted to break it down which type of club would suit him? He has shown he cant really work with rubbish (not many can) when he took over. It was backs to the wall and he engineered saftey but that wont get you promoted, it was boring as hell to watch too. He brought in players that managed to get near to the play offs but as other managers started to work us out and counter his one way of playing we went backwards. He spent more money and failed to get what was required by the owner in return for the additional cash. He seems like a nice guy and he clearly knows his stuff, you dont get to manage at Championship level without knowing how to coach. I just feel his biggest flaw is his stubborness mixed with his chatter. I dont see any side with money to spend chosing him to give it to.
Can almost see Rosie getting the Sunderland job, signing Delap and winning the playoffs next year. I hope he does as long as we get automatic, otherwise it'll sting a bit.
I wouldn't be remotely surprised if Rosie got promoted to the Premier League with another club, he only just fell short of doing it with us this season.
He's just as likely to not get promoted as his to get promotion. I think we'll see him back in the championship by Xmas at the latest and good luck to him
Bit of a stretch that one, he only just fell short of the play-offs, how is that only just falling short of promotion to the Premier League? Did the 3 teams below us only just fall short of promotion to the Premier League too?
I'm not sure what this means it's not like he has a long stellar career as a football Chairman is it? He's great, really great, at the media and publicity piece. He's done extremely well with the commercials bringing in new sponsors. However, I am starting to get very slightly nervous about his footballing decisions/involvement.
I think he fell short of getting us in the playoffs, there was still another 3 games after Plymouth. If I’m splitting hairs
Had we have scraped into the playoffs, we'd have started them as the form team. Obviously, there's still a lot to do from there, but you'd still fancy us, particularly as we tended to play better against better teams (fans of the other playoff teams certainly didn't fancy playing us).
The thing is Rosie could very easily go on to get a promotion. He's proven that he can set a team up well, be hard to beat and get results against good opposition. He didn't quite figure out how to attack within the constraints of his system, but with the right squad he could figure it out or it may just land on his lap, add to that a bit of momentum and the magic dust that comes along with that and he's done it. Shota was a big mistake and I think Acun did learn his lesson with that. LR was a good forward-thinking appointment and has successfully pushed us forward in our journey and aided the team's development. That doesn't have to mean he's right for us in the next steps, the idea that he was let go as a knee-jerk reaction to not getting playoffs just doesn't wash with me. I believe Acun when he says this was a difficult decision and I'm sure he has weighed up a multitude of factors, some we are in the dark about and some perhaps close to the things being speculated about.
Oh yeah not disagreeing, if we'd got in the play offs I think we definitely would've been a favourite to win, just think he only just fell short in getting us to the Premier League was a bit of a stretch.
Meaning a Chairman that is willing to back his manager financially. A Chairman that has brought in business connections to help provide financial support. A Chairman that is using his connections around football to open doors for us. I dont give a stuff if he waves to people in the North stand or not. As long as he continues to back the manager as well as do the things you mentioned he will be the envy of other Championship clubs. Lets be honest, by the time the first ball is kicked in August nobody will care about Rosenior anymore, we will be there backing the new manager and his new look squad that Acun has paid for.
I can see him getting the Bristol City gig because I don't think their owners are overly impressed with Liam Manning.
He fell short of the playoffs, not promotion. We all know the playoffs are a lottery and there's no guarantee he had what it takes to get us through 3 "cup finals", given the Plymouth game should've been considered exactly that. I've no doubt that he'll go on to do well in the game though.
Listening to him on Talksport he gave Liam 4 attacking players in January who then either did t play enough or the tactics didn’t enable them to do what they were good at - in Acun’s opinion . Half right and half wrong for me , as this division is not straightforward .
