I actually like the French connection with Still... how many teams have we seen that have bought unknown French players for a song and sold them on... would match the necessity of the clubs model... Leicester have been brilliant in that country with signings...
I'm not denying the flaws you point out. I'm saying that despite those flaws IF those 2 pens go in we finish top 6
We missed the play offs by playing totally the wrong way against several teams struggling in the table and very beatable causing some of our own players to go above the managers head and question if he is capable and if they really want to be playing for him. The finger has been on the trigger for a while but I expect Acun knew the response from nanna lovers if he pulled it too early. HT2 has already said, this is the right time to make a change if you're going to do it. The new man has a full window and a full pre-season. If we have serious ambitions of getting players in on loan from top Premier League clubs a change was needed, especially Liverpool!
If you read my earlier posts you’ll see that I said a manager with clout would help with that. You’d still not know how it was going to play out for a few months though. It would be easier to recruit in subsequent windows once he’d proven he was a good fit and things are working, but I don’t get the impression Acun will give managers that sort of time. It’s not complicated. You seriously think Acun is going to give a brand new manager millions to play with straight away?
Of course he's going to give him money to play with, he's way more likely to back his new guy then he would have backed LR if he'd kept him but had doubts.
Yes Are you seriously suggesting that Acun would appoint a manager and starve him of funds to recruit?
I guess we’ll find out over the summer. Hypothetically, how do people feel if Acun hires Will Still or Steve Cooper and doesn’t give them any real money? Do we rate their chances?
Just suppose City appointed Will Still (Never heard of him before yesterday) and we miss out on the play offs next season. Daily Fail Headline: Will Will Still Still be here next year?
Separation can be important here. You can disagree with the decision (I still do). You can support the ownership (I still do). Thus, you can accept the ownership may make mistakes but still support them. Always question – but there’s a distinction between being critical and being hostile. But probably until somewhere near the point the ownership starts trying to rebrand us, starts attacking the community and pricing kids out of seeing City – this support is likely to continue. Managerial decisions somewhat pale by comparison.
Coyle and Greaves met with Acun and Tan at Hull Golf Club and begged them not to sack him. Rosie had a meeting with the players yesterday to say his goodbyes and said that the owner wants to go in a different direction with a different style of football. I'm hearing this German fella is definitely the favourite now and that coming from inside the club. Not heard of him personally but apparently he's an all out attack sort of manager. Football will be very entertaining/chaotic if it is him.
Im hearing a lot of ppl say who they dont want, Cooper, Still, Walter to name a few.. But who would you be happy with out of interest? Realistically, who would be the best man for the job who we could attract?
Potentially, I don’t know. He might wait to see how things go, to feel reassured, if he feels he already wasted £10m in January. It’s just as presumptuous to think he’ll put that sort of money into another untested manager.
