GUTTED! Woke up about an hour ago with a stinking hangover to be hit with this sobering news! A true proffesional, quality player & a gentleman in the ilk of Sir Bob.

RIP Garry & whole hearted sympathies to his family, today we have lost a footballing legend at the age of 42, so sad<rose>

    Wtf. Shocked. Rip Gary Speed.

I don't understand why he would kill himself. He had a family, security and his career was going great with Wales. He either hid something from everyone or he's had some severe demons all along.

    R.I.P Speedo.

My thoughts go to his family and friends

Totally shocked by this news. He will be greatly missed by all who follow football or knew the man.

Sky just said there will be a minutes silence at the Swansea game btw.

In shock. Grew up watching him give his everything for the team, was a fantastic pro, more importantly he was a top bloke.
He was doing an unbelievable job as Wales manager too, always thought he'd manage us one day..

    Devastated. RIP. <rose>

Today I thought I was just going to relax, watch some football and enjoy the day.

Now, this news has completely shocked my system. I probably won't get over it for a while.

Just goes to show football and money aren't everything. Could have had family problems who knows.

Robbie Savage wrote on Twitter: "He was upbeat on phone yesterday we were laughing together , talking football and dancing he was a great teammate and a great friend #RIP."

Makes the situation even weirder that he apparently seemed fine yesterday

I know it's too soon for conspiracy theories but I just refuse to believe it was suicide.

I'm actually still in complete shock.

Just heard the sad news. Was shocked as much as everyone else was.

Was my favourite player behind Shearer when I first started supporting Newcastle.

Just remembered I actually sat in his spot in NUFC dressing room and wore his No.11 in a charity game at St James'. Legend. RIP Speedy
