If it is Still we go for then I wonder if we’ve burned our bridges with Maric. Could be one we end up revisiting if Still doesn’t work out (if Maric still hasn’t taken a head coach role elsewhere by then).

Bayern making contact with Erik ten Hag before he's tempted here?

I don't know that its negligence. He has brought strikers in, but I doubt they were at the top of his list. When Stewart was still here, people may have thought they'd end up as second choice.

Most of what I can glean about Still is that he’s a really good motivator (which is obviously hugely important), does anyone know though how good of a technical and tactical coach he is?

The thing that stood out about watching Ipswich this season, and I saw the same thing on Saturday in Sheff Weds, is just how well drilled they all are in such a myriad of different situations and in their patterns of play. Different level from what you see in most of the rest of the league and a clear competitive advantage (elevating the playing talent at their disposal and making the whole so much more than the sum of their parts). I didn’t see the same when I’ve watched Reims but having looked into it, the games I’ve seen seem to be generally acknowledged to have been their worse of the season.

Maric is clearly a proper, obsessive student of the game in the same way McKenna is, is Still the same?
Obviously it remains to be seen if Maric can translate that knowledge onto the pitch when he’s the main man.

Happy with Maric or Still just hope they don't have Speakman, Dodds and Proctor foisted on them.

I'm not getting myself invested any more in Still unless his name is announced. It's Maric who will get the job now (my opinion, nothing but conjecture).

Look how the seasons played out from pre play offs last season to now and his decision making. Longer term fair enough, wider club fair enough. First team this year ? Disaster

Disaster is too strong a word for me. Unbalanced? Yes. Not good enough to go up? Definitely.

I think results, if not performances, would have been better without so much disruption in the Head Coach position. A large part of that is Beale being undermined by the people who should have supported him. He probably shouldn't have got the role in the first place, but after he did, he should have got better backing. It was obvious the pressure was affecting him.

Nixon has said he suspects we are getting closer to an appointment, then went there’s another foreigner in the frame who has not been mentioned, so which one is it?

    Getting irritating this now haha

Aye but the mess started with Speakmans relationship with Mowbray and trusting Burstow.

We were only 4 points off the playoffs even when Beale went. Say, in some alternative universe, we’d brought Rohl in when we got rid of Mowbray, I believe there’s every chance we’d be looking forward to another match on Sunday.
I know that can’t be proved either way so, as I say, I appreciate it’s all about opinion and I agree what transpired was really poor but I still track it back in the main to the head coach decisions.

Definitely. Should have replaced Mowbray when they originally wanted to. As much as I would have been happy to keep him, the club didn't really want him so should have acted last summer.

Agreed, and who was it that was so weak and didn't make the call?

Thanks, that’s good, I always enjoy these. Backs up well what else I’ve seen of him in that he’s quite pragmatic in his approach. I do wonder how he’d do with an expectation of being more on the front foot and breaking down a passive low block. I don’t know how much he faced that with Reims.

As I think I’ve said, I’ve not enjoyed the games I’ve seen of Reims, low scoring bore-fests with both teams seemingly playing for a 0-0 but I acknowledge it’s a low and poor sample based on the stats I’ve since read up on in more detail.

I watched this Still short film documentary too which again shows a very much caution first approach. Home to a team fighting relegation and only really talking about mitigating their threats.

I’m not meaning to cast aspersions. Just commenting on what I’ve seen first hand. The stats and data from his first season there and even some of the first half of this season suggest a much more proactive and aggressive approach so it could be any myriad of factors that have contributed to him being more cautious.

I'm not sure. Could be Speakman but I wouldn't have thought that he'd be allowed to act unilaterally on the Head Coach.
