Personally I’d prefer Still but whoever it is will get my backing. I also have a hunch Poyet will replace Speakman although that is just my hunch
They would be like that no matter what, we have a very vocal minority that expect instant success and if they dont get it they kick off
His missus is based in london so could just be over visiting her but i feel hes hinting at something with that picture on his story
I am of the same opinion. But the risk reward can be worth it. Since Mowbray went I think we have lacked leadership and experience across the club. A figurehead if you like. However, I am quite taken by Maric personally. Maric assistants gigs impress me. I am a fan of Rose and will hope he has moulded Maric to an extent. He has experienced Leeds which is a melting pot of a club. Bayern dont appoint folk without due care and attention. I think his profile looks really good, but I daresay his backroom team might be the making or breaking of him. Still doesnt excite me in the same way. I just dont think he has worked at the same level Maric has. Obviously he has experience in the main gig, and that is a big tick. But I dont think he gets a free pass for the last 3 or 4 months. If I were picking between the two Maric is a step up from Still for me and I would be happy with him. Still would get my backing too of course. My preferences arent too relevant, but would have rather we go down a Robins or Cooper route. Sometimes ambition is shown by doing the tried and proven. That clearly isnt how our owner sees it, and he has my backing in what he chooses. I just hope someone has convinced him of the value of experience somewhere on the footballing side. Unlike others I think Poyet would be a masterstroke in our setup somewhere.
Not sure if this means anything, could be nothing but Mike Dodds has just left a comment on Rene Marics Myspace asking if he's going to be on MSN messenger later on.
Where would you see Poyet fitting in? I could see him as the experienced voice in the background (if that's even a role) Does he sit as a DOF? I haven't followed his career, but to be fair Jason Wilcox is a sought after dof and I wouldn't have had him down as a dof based on his playing career
I think football clubs are big enought to have a technical director and director of football, personally. So if you look at the likes of Edwards at Liverpool, from an analyis background. Would make a ton of sense to me to have a tech director responsible for analysis, medicine, scouting etc. Then look at Edu at Arsenal, a different upbringing again. I suspect he is a trusted advisor on the football side. Poyet could do similar for me, 1st team, u21s, academy oversight from a mgt and coaching perspective. Clearly the glue is still the head coach, but to me an experienced football coach is needed as a sounding board for the all coaching teams in the club.
Rene has replied to Mike "inbox me,babe, too many snakes on here. #youknowwhoyourfriendsare #loyalty #snakes #neveragain". Sounds serous.
So essentially replacing one overall sporting director with 2 new roles? I'd be happy with that, anything that improves us and if it drives the standards up then its a winner all around
