Duane Eddy, the pioneering rock guitarist known for his instrumental 'twang', died on Tuesday at the age of 86. The Grammy-winning musician passed away from cancer in Franklin, Tennessee, surrounded by family, according to wife Deed Abbate. 'Duane inspired a generation of guitarists the world over with his unmistakeable signature 'Twang' sound,' a rep told Variety. 'He was the first rock and roll guitar god, a truly humble and incredible human being. He will be sorely missed.'
Electric Light Orchestra keyboardist Richard Tandy has died aged 76. Jeff Lynne announced his 'dear friend' and longtime ELO bandmate had passed away in a Facebook post on Wednesday evening. Lynne said: 'It is with great sadness that I share the news of the passing of my long-time collaborator and dear friend Richard Tandy.
The US writer Paul Auster, known for acclaimed novels such as 4 3 2 1 and The New York Trilogy, has died at the age of 77.
Worcestershire spin bowler Josh Baker has died at the age of 20. Baker made two County Championship appearances this season, the last against Durham at Kidderminster in April. The left-armer made his first-class debut in 2021 and played 47 games in all formats, taking 70 wickets. "The news of Josh’s passing has left us all devastated," said Worcestershire chief executive Ashley Giles. The club has not said how Baker died.
Sorry to hear this news, a very likeable guy. In 1974 I got a chart from Golf Weekly which I put up in my office. There was an area tp predict the top 3 places.. I put 1. Gary Player 2. I used to watch BFTB when I was a kid, I had no idea what it was about, just remember Yosser & “Giz a job, I can do that.” Only just realised now that King Theoden & Yosser are one & the same. RIP!
