I guess the initial reaction after the game was disappointment we could finish with a better performance. However, I think most would have taken 7th before the season kicked off. I know there is the feeling we should have performed better at home, and if we had then things might have been different. However, all clubs will probably say the same, and had games that got away. In the end, which is telling, all the teams bar ourselves, who were trying to get into the playoff places fell away, and we were the only team, with a chance of making the playoff's on the last day other than the ones already there. As far as the game went, why we were so lacklustre is hard to put your finger on. Certainly Plymouth wanted it more than us, and made it difficult for us to find any rhythm, but we also looked lethargic and devoid of energy. Nevertheless, I have really enjoyed the whole season, I have watch every game home and away, and considering the whole feel about the club compared to before Acun took over, it is in a far better place. Wishing everybody connected with the club an enjoyable break and time to re-charge the batteries.
Interestingly For the final 23 games of the season We were 12th And sheff wed 7th And the top 6 is the same top 6
The sheff weds gaffer has completely changed the club top to bottom since he came in, I wouldn't be surprised to see them challenge next season. Imo he should have got manager of the season
It is a worry at this stage, which is why this season was a wasted opportunity and which is why we went balls deep to try and do it
Agreed, however the club must have realised fairly early in this season that we would need a massive rebuild in either division we were going to end up in. (the Championship being the most likely). Hopefully, plans are in place for the rebuild, if not, life is going to get interesting. It's going to be a wild ride.
People seem to think that we're going to start from scratch again next year but i genuinely don't think it's that bad? Greaves is a huge loss and we obviously need to find a good replacement Morton as well unless Arnie Slot machine doesn't see a place for him yet. Giles, don't see any issue in finding a replacement who could offer what he has this year Philo will stay i think Zaroury - see Giles Carvalho - think omur is his replacement really So we've finished 7th on the final day after having no first choice striker for months and have to find 2 good players and 2 or 3 upper championship players to be where we were. Our track record with treating loans well probably gives us a leg up in attaining the next Morton/Carvalho and the greaves money should replace him and most of the others. Then a few depth options on the cheap and we're away!
I’m guessing that come September 1st we’ll have 5 Premier League loanees at the club. Hopefully one or two that we’ve currently got but, regardless, our reputation as a good club to develop young Premier League talent could land us a couple more jems. It’s impossible to say what our squad for next season will look like at the moment but I’d bet that it will include a fair smattering of players who currently none of us are mentioning.
Moaning about next season’s squad, without any idea who’ll actually be in that squad, is completely pointless. Not that it will stop you from posting it daily for the next three months.
Just ignore it then or put it on ignore. Those that want to engage will, those that won’t, won’t. What we going to talk about on a football forum..diy? The euros will be along soon
Not moaning, just posting opinion (based on facts) for debate on a message board. Others have managed to make constructive comments, maybe you should try too.
Add in about a dozen others...off the top of me nogging......Portsmouth, Derby, Blunts, Luton, Burnley, Swansea, Millwall. The three playoff teams who don't get there. Plus two others...Bristol, Coventry..
Equally they are free to post their stream…you going to carry on moaning about people moaning His post wasn’t negative, it’s just a different opinion to yours
It might be easier to list the potential strugglers: Blackburn (esp if they lose Szmodics) Plymouth, Cardiff. The team coming out of L1 playoffs. QPR, Watford. The likes of Leeds or Southampton if they have to sell to ease the wages expenditure. It will be very competitive again, come what may.
