I get that the culture and mentality of our team/club has been second to none over the past 2 seasons, but the players have still got to be good enough to do the job and win games. You don't win 55 out of 91 games (losing only 10) and scoring nearly 200 goals by just grit, determination and a good culture. You still have to be a very good player. Leeds' so-called 100m strike force have scored 10 goals less than us - why are they better players than our strike force? I actually think it's quite insulting to our players to say that it's all down to the culture and determination that's got us where we are.
Absolutely agree Stretchy, look at the system we play and the quality of a lot of our goals. These things only come from well coached players at the top of their game, what does often push us over the line though is our grit, determination and team spirit. COYB!!!
It's both, great team spirit and togetherness, mixed with hard work and some quality play.....an ideal blend imo!!
Yeah, I think our players are generally underestimated - particularly from opposition fans that don't watch us that often. They're far from bad players, although I do take the point we don't have any real 'star' players with big reputations. Pretty much all our lads haven't played at the highest level yet. I think it's McKenna and the coaching staff that give us the edge and they are the main factor in our incredible points haul over the last two years. McKenna has a brilliant system, a modern approach to training and preparation, and he reads a game really well - knowing when to make the right substitutions to get the most out the squad. When you partner that with a forward-thinking ownership willing to invest, it's a strong recipe for success. Mark Ashton came with a lot of criticism from Bristol City fans, but Ashton's recruitment has been more or less spot on. The new owners came in saying the long-term goal is the Premier League. We're on the cusp of achieving that in only three years.
Great to see Super Cooper looking so well https://www.twtd.co.uk/ipswich-town-news/47162/lifes-a-pitch-tv--episode-39--paul-cooper True Town Legend
Haha, he was my hero when I was young, a very laid back individual. Drove a Ford Capri don't you know!!
But for Shilton and Clemence I'm sure he'd have been an international too,one of the very few from that era of Town players who weren't.
Do the business and have a tremendous day.... Back to back promotions will be an outstanding achievement...Last team to go from League One to premier league in consecutive seasons.....Manchester City???
The day has an aura around it, feels like Christmas Eve. I fear we'll end up looking slightly foolish but I'm confident we can get what we need from tomorrow. Hope for an early goal to settle the nerves. I'd take a 0-0 right now, but the players and everyone there tomorrow deserve a winning end. 2-0. Hirst on 20. Sarmiento to Finish it on 89.
and on the F1. Ed Sheeran was representing in Miami. Says he has just re-signed sponsorship for next season!
Ooh,I hope you don't live to regret that!!Whilst I'm hoping for another Exeter I've a horrible feeling it won't be that straightforward.
Nobody is counting any chickens - and of course the longer the game goes on with a single goal lead or less the more edgy we all know it can get - but I think if we get a couple of goals in the first half hour it will be a blood bath and I'm sure the players will set out to get the job done as early in the game as possible.
