Was tounge in cheek mate. Shudder just thinking about the Beale. They have wanted Still since the winter but the release seems to be the issue. Hopefully, they get it sorted with the form of his team at the moment, possible negotiation? If not, and it's Maric, then get it done and unveil him asap.
I dont think it will be a surprise personally. I think the names mentioned regularly are a reasonably balanced set of profiles. Of those on the list I dont see coming is Still. I reckon it is out of Rohl, Heckingbottam, Maric, Poyet personally.
I have a feeling it’s Will Still with Poyet coming in as DOF to replace Speakman. No idea how credible this is but I find Poyet suddenly chirping up last week about our business a little strange if he hasn’t had some sort of contact with the club lately.
Struggling big time lately and 3 tough fixtures still go play. Wouldn’t surprise me if they got shot.
After the Beale debacle probably edge towards Still Just on experience as a leader and Reims fans in general think he’s doing a good job. (A far cry from Beale at rangers). However think £4m comp for his level would want someone like Potter for that money. Maric is a complete wildcard loads of articles about his coaching development etc but a gamble as a leader Saying all that the way the club works would not be surprised if it was neither Either way have a feeling we won’t find out until the big leagues finish 18th May
I'm edging towards Maric rather than Still. Similar ages etc. but I think the German clubs are a lot more harsh in their feedback to staff (I remember an article about a German national squad that said you could put them all in a sack, hit it with a baseball bat and whoever got hurt would deserve it ). I just think he might be better equipped for the pressure.
Re: Still - i'm sure I read that this summer he has a fairly cheap release clause come into play. So I don't think compensation becomes an issue as its essentially pre-agreed
I’m surprised at all the suggestions of Poyet for DoF. His temperament isn’t right for the role at all in my opinion. You need to be consistent, not reactionary and, by his own admission, Poyet is the type of character that wears his heart on his sleeve and much more the latter than the former. I’m not sure what it is that would qualify him for the role. My preference would be to hang on to Speakman, particularly if they get the next head coach appointment right (this season’s appointments are obviously a pretty big blot on his copybook) but if that’s not doable then I’d rather a smarter appointment for the role rather than just a vocal ex manager.
Oh that’s much more than I expected. Don’t for one second think the club should pick a cheap option but considering there’s absolutely zero guarantee of success I can understand not paying THAT much
I dont remember Poyet signing well at all. Don't understand why he would be desirable as a DoF. Bridcutt, Buckley, Borini. Just very very uninspiring.
