i like grayson and he has obviously done well getting the club back up from L1 and into 5th in the championship. however im not sure he can take us that final step to promotion. at times the football we play is clueless and so is the majority of the defending.

obviously hes working on a shoestring budget and another manager may struggle to do better, but how will we know without trying it?

I know that Kilkenny was also not speaking to Larry last season. How can the players lack so much motivation in the first half every week - must be the management. Howson is playing like he has the whole world on his shoulders, I reckon he will ask for a transfer in Jan.

I think we have to be realistic and maybe endure a few more season in the championship..we have no divine right to be in the Prem.....

The Championship is littered with big clubs who have been in the Prem and the old L1 (for us oldies)

The problem for us...is average is just not good enough and its the same for those other clubs...Leicester, Derby, NF etc....
they say the same things on their boards...

Will a change of Manager help? it may do...its not all about money its about ability to Lead, inspire and motivate the team and be tactically aware!

The failings of the back 5 and not haveing a class DM is not new problem...its the one we had this time LY and its not been fixed. Antyone of us in our cvurrent job who failed to deliver after being told what the problem is would be fired and its not that if we told our compnay "the tools i have are rubbish get me some more" they would splash the cash....

    Sorry Larry time to go!

I certainly don't. Simon Grayson is one of the best managers in our history and doing a job as well as anyone could do with the restrictions he has to suffer under. He shagged a club secretary and ended his marriage which I think he's a bad person for doing. But the team manifestly has one of the best ethoses in the English leagues and show it most games we play. The players don't disrespect him, and I invite bigfatboab to prove that they do. Andy O'Brien seems to have been having a personal crisis and has refused to play for the club. That doesn't necessarily suggest a disrespect due to his thoughts on Grayson.

No other manager will do better under this lowlife chairman.

KGIG <ok> There's only one Simon Grayson. Keep on working those miracles. :)

Obviously there are bigger things to think of right now, but Jacqui Oatley, who reported AOB's claims about Larry, also said she spoke to another ex player who had nothing but great things to say about him.

KGiG, got it in one mate. Yesterday was poor. But we're still 5th & have another away game this week to improve.

If Jacqui Oatley's right, Bates' reaction to the AO'B affair has been very confusing. You'd expect anger from him at the very least if O'Brien's reason for refusing to play was as trifling as it being the manager who he doesn't get on with. He was almost sympathetic, by contrast. Something about it doesn't add up and I find it hard to believe that O'Brien really does hate Grayson so much that he's effectively terminated his own employment.

There was more anti-Grayson feeling around Elland Road yesterday than I've ever seen before. Very puzzling and sad.

I don't really have any confidence in SG to finish in the top 2. But based on the quality of the squad, I wouldn't expect him to. There's 2 reasons we won't be in the running for automatic promotion - the lack of investment in the team and poor tactics from the manager.

Grayson is poor tactically. I wasn't at the game yesterday, but from people's comments it sounds like it was the usual hoofball. Why we continue to play this way, I don't know. We have some very talented midfielders, that are great with the ball at their feet, but we bypass them by hoofing it to Ross McCormack (who isn't going to win a header).

He has failed to sort out the defence, is poor in the transfer market and tactically inept. Even though I think he's done a good job when we were in League One and then okay last year, we could get a better manager that would be able to win promotion.

Losing at home to Blackpool, Barnsley, throwing points away against Coventry isn't good enough.

Sorry, I forgot that we had to win every single game for us to have any confidence in the manager. If we were lying mid-table I'd be able to understand it, but we're in the play-offs.

After the news this afternoon, I couldn't care less about Leeds United FC, they can keep the ****e in management for as long as they want and those who have a different opinion to my own, fine, you just keep to your hopes and dreams. Football is feck all in life really and it's most certainly not worth getting bothered about.

He's repeatedly mentioned how he wants the defenders to play it on the ground. I think it's just more a case of them being poor footballers who've been thrown in at the deep end and aren't talented enough to find the right pass when an opposition striker's bearing down on them. The key to yesterday's game was in midfield, and Barnsley utterly dominated. Wanted to win their Cup Final a lot more than we did, and Clayton/Howson were ineffective. Grayson needs to get the most out of that midfield by putting Pugh in there and moving Howson forwards, but due to his injury, that wasn't possible.

His tactics have been fine this season and throughout his tenure with a few glaring exceptions. He's managed his men well and created a good team spirit by signing committed, British players for the most part. He's made Leeds an exciting club to follow again. And all this without being given the means to make the sort of signings any playoff hopeful would consider a minimum expectation. I can't think of anyone that would be more appropriate for the manager position who would replace him, though that implies I'd consider the thought of him leaving which I wouldn't.

Our home performances have been poor because the atmosphere at Elland Road is shamefully quiet at the moment, as well as because of a catalogue of errors from players signed on the cheap who we were forced to utilize. When we're away from home, our fans support the team exceptionally well and hey, look, we have fantastic away results. We create a sense of occasion which the players are motivated by, but which is lacking when we're at Elland Road. These players love the big games which the fans help them along with, and we must play our part if we want to raise their game this season.

I'm not saying everything Grayson has done has been perfect and there are definite areas for improvement, but the chairman, players and fans also need to be considered for why we're not in the automatic spots at the moment. Our season so far, all things considered, has been another Simon Grayson success.

Simon Grayson is the right man for the job for now. He has limited funds and he is probably the only decent manager we could get to stay and work under the tyrant that is Ken Bates.

Grayson is good enough to assemble a team capable of competing in the Championship and even making the play offs, that is his limit. We will never see a Leeds Utd team playing in the premiership until A) We no longer have Ken Bates in charge and B) We have a manager more capable than Grayson.
