Yes he admits that mistakes were made.

    All before GFP took over.

Since then everything is coming together.

He has an unusual perspective on things coming together then.

And I'm not buying the line that everything which went wrong this season was down to having to clean up Sandgaard's mess.
SE7 have a great deal to prove still.
As far as I can see nothing is better now than it was 12 months ago.
They haven't even slowed the monthly losses.
And any attempt to cover the huge C*ck and balls of a relegation scrap barely avoided with the tiny fig-leaf of a 14 game unbeaten run would be a bad joke.

Everything is being put in place behind the scenes.

We have to understand how a business works.

But we’re too thick to do that, so we just have to trust the honest broker who put the ownership team together. He’s only doing it because he loves the club and it’s special fans so much :emoticon-0152-heart

The one improvement is that we've got a manager and not a head coach. If things are to improve NJ will have to be another Curbs, who achieved success on a shoestring by dedication, excellent scouting, astuteness and man-management. And being allowed to manage. If so, the West Stand will in time get a new name.

    Maybe.
Poor old Lennie Lawrence never got a stand named after him at the Valley.

I'm still waiting for the urinals to be named after Duchatelet :emoticon-0172-mooni

    Lennie recently turned 75.

As you say, it would be fitting & appropriate if the club recognised his genius by naming something after him.

I would be in favour of naming the West Stand after Lennie Lawrence right now.
He should be remembered and honoured forever at CAFC.
It would be poor form if something was only done after he passes away (God willing many years from now).

We've had three truly legendary managers in our history - in my opinion.
We have three stands aside from the 'Covered End'
It seems wholly appropriate to me that all of our greatest managers have a Stand named after them.

Perhaps Lennie has been asked for his view and declined?
He does come across as a quiet unassuming guy.

    Maybe.

He apparently doesn't have much to do with Charlton these days.
I don't know whether his parting with the Club was not on the best of terms and he has never put that behind him, or if there is some other reason.

But there's no denying he is one of our greatest former managers.
Bringing huge pride to the Club and its fans during one of our darkest eras, when everything as stacked against him.

Bumped - due to a post in another thread suggesting that non-football content had appeared on this thread.

    I can't see any myself.

People should have the ability to filter what they want to read and what they want to skip - or is this going to turn into a dictatorship?

He’s 76 now, and spends his retirement in William Hill. He lives near to where Elfs & I used to live. Having met him on several dozen occasions he’s an interesting personality, in fact he’s not the warmest of individuals in person.

When I lived in central London I used to see LL every Friday night without fail at WH in Paddington - lumping a few cheeky bets on before making the long train journey to Newport, where he was Director of Football. The first time I ever spoke to LL outside of the confines of the club was in the old John Humphrey’s in Chislehurst - it was a daily stop over for him, as not far from Sparrow's Lane/ the Valley.

He’s had a great career and made a nice few quid - good luck to him.

Well for what it's worth we have one stand still un-named, and one of our greatest three managers ever without a memorial.
    Pretty simple maths.

If the Club won't name the West Stand after Lennie Lawrence for 'political' reasons, then shame on them.
Our team played like warriors under his management and achieved the almost impossible.
    That was a footballing miracle.
He should be honoured, not forgotten.

Banter warning……the following comment may offend some posters as it may be seen as banter. Poster caution is advised……

As this is the New Owners thread, I hope it’s ok to suggest that we name the West Stand, the Charlie Methven Stand.

He already has a parking space named after him doesn't he?
    Like Matt Southall used to.
    Maybe it's the same one.
