Another Floyd story.

Massive clanger name drop (sorry), but I know David a bit. I was out with him and Polly having G&Ts in Brighton. Was a lovely day so we were all sitting outside, and this homeless guy starts playing his acoustic guitar. He looks around and clocks David, classic double-take type stuff. Lo and behold, the obvious happens and he comes over.

"Are you...are you David Gilmour?"

"Yes. I am" (David is always impeccably polite and lovely, for those wondering).

"Will you jam with me?"

"Well I'm actually just having a drink with some friends"

"Okay, can I play you some of my songs then?"

"Umm..."

The fella then proceeds, really up in everyone's faces, to play a couple of bars of awful songs, and then launches into a terrible version of Wish You Were Here, clearly expecting David to start singing...

Anyhow, security eventually come along and moves him away. I asked David, "does that happen a lot?"

"Yes. All the time. All the time".

 

I’m thinking we need to go strong with this one and try to get a result, to rebuild confidence, then we can rest a few against Leeds, rather than go strong there and get another pasting before potentially having to play them again in a Wembley final.

 

In the days when we weren't bothered about letting in 3 goals, we'd just score more! good times...
