If Speakman is going, I hope one of these advisors KLD is leaning on in the head coach search is the new DoF. Employing a new head coach and then starting the DoF search limits the candidate pool and you end up with the wrong power balance. See Stoke for example, Neil was allowed to bring his mate in as DoF and it failed catastrophically because Neil didn't really answer to his direct superior and Martin had no real control over anything.

Wouldn’t worry about that mate, although I fully agree. Will always be a hierarchy in place whilst KLD is here. The people in the hierarchy may change, but the systems will remain in place to guard against exactly what you have said. I get the sense this may be a huge summer for us, for more reasons than 1.

Good to hear. Cautiously optimistic that we'll come out of the summer in a good place.

Harte as said as much hasn't he? Clarke would be very open to staying if SAFC could match him in wages but their wage structure won't allow it!

It's always implied agents make decisions for players when they are popular and you don't want to think of them as being the ones chasing the ££££'s but Harte couldn't male Clarke move anywhere. If he wanted to stay Harte would have to suck it up and miss out on a big pay day!

If KLD is getting advice from a league experienced manager could that be Poyet @Magnus not the DOF role ?

It all depends Smug. If Speakman goes and we get a Bealie type coach then the answer would be no. But then again we would need a new DoF as well

Sorry for not keeping up with discussions, but where is this talk of Speakman possibly leaving coming from or is it just wishful thinking by a few on here?

Was just thinking if the manager doesn’t fancy him, he might not be guaranteed as many minutes as he has been rewarded this season. I want him to stay, just rested a bit more and to find a more settled position
I’m sure he said he wasn’t doing this interim manager role to then be demoted from assistant manager in the summer, interesting to see what happens

And to think of some of the ****e that's been in the club since. Roy Keane had no experience but was a serial winner. We'll never know.

Just vague rumours by the look of it. It's one of those things that nobody would know because you'd have to know what KLD was thinking and he doesn't operate that way.

With all these names like Still, Knutsen, Maric, Barry linked etc - it just makes the appointment of Beale on 2 and a half years even more baffling.

I wonder if Speakman pushed for that appointment, it backfired, and now KLD has lost some trust in his judgement.

This season we have regressed in terms of recruitment and management. KLD will be livid at that after such promise in the couple of years prior.

I think there might be truth in this bit at least. Didn't prehab say something along the lines of speakman was easily taken in by a good presentation cause he does the same!

Just rumours, at the moment, but the people mentioning the rumours aren't the attention grabbing kind and they're not claiming inside knowledge. There's not much smoke but that doesn't mean there's no fire ...

... either that or we've just elected a new Pope <laugh>
