Feels like he's in the mould of Paul Clements who was Ancelotti's assistant all over the place then did nowt as a Head Coach. Not saying he'd be the same, but I'm always a little reticent when people start bigging up people who've never held a no.1 position
Rumour was that we interviewed in London then KLD has been to France, Germany and elsewhere. The London interviews were so club staff weren't present. We've taken advice from a manager with Championship experience but, too old to employ. The criteria is experience but under 50yo. Speakman isn't guaranteed to be there if the new man would prefer a different set up. I wonder if people will get off KLD's back if Speakman goes, doubt it tbh. I've been told more, by someone on here, but it's up to him to post.
Feel like we need more than a coach, personally, hence why Jimmy Thelin amongst a few others always intrigued. Marek Papzun another.
Ahh spot on. I was reading it as if he was saying speakman is involved in this and doubt would sack him after that.
So not Pep, Klopp, Conte, Ancelloti, Tuchel then In all seriousness I hate the idea we have a criteria based on age. Particularly when it excludes older candidates. It is naive and short sighted in my opinion. Obviously those above arent targets but if someone like Robins is off the list because he is over 50 it is mind boggling small minded. In mh opinion anyway. Glad to see some advice from an external sourcd is being taken. I wonder what that remit is? More on the structure of a coaching team than a head coach search perhaps.
Surely anyone at the required standard, over 50yo, will have reached a decent level by now. If they have the wages would be prohibitive. If they haven't I wouldn't want them.
Not necessarily. And wages should be flexible here. We have seen the cost of paying off managers. Pay a good wage and you may not be paying up early. Cheaper in the long run if you get the right man, particular if he delivers your 5 year plan.
Agree about the age thing, has to be the right manager based on their ability and i dont think ruling candidates out over a certain age is right. Might miss the best candidate. Barry being mentioned is an interesting one for sure and would be a huge risk given hes never managed before (all appointments are risky tho). @FellTop not sure if youve heard much about him in your coaching circles? I know a couple people who have witness his training sessions and work with younger players and they say hes one of the best about. However, so was Beale. I know Barry is being tipped to become a top top manager so if it is him, hope he reaches his potential with us
Didn't realise he is also the Portugal assistant. A lot to give up, would certainly show commitment from both parties
Same, def a few rumours starting to gather pace that KS might be away Not against a new person coming in and bringing fresh ideas, hopefully theyll be able to add to the good work KS has done KS would go with my thanks, hes played a huge part in kick starting our club again
Not very much at all mate. When he was with Cook at Wigan I heard good things, but dont know anyone who has seen him since he left there. I would say if Tuchel takes you with him to Bayern you must have something about you. Tuchel is ultra demanding. If I was looking for things to worry about, I wouldnt be terribly keen on his part time gigs at international level. I would wonder what he is learning, and for sure he gives them up if he is a number 1.
I agree, he has played his part. I have for a while thought he will go. I just dont think you survive a season like this in his post. It is too cutthroat. If we are indeed using an external guy to help with this process then that would suggest he has gone. Even if he hasnt been sacked, I would bet he would walk away after being marginalised like that. I know I would.
