Some absolute ballers in Italy in that era. Haven't even mentioned Totti, Signori etc. Elsewhere, got to mention Romario who was also outstanding.
Doesn't quite enter into the discussion unlike O'Nien but Del Piero was a hell of a player who you don't hear much about these days. 208 goals in 513 appearances for Juventus and pure class on the ball.
We cant forget Cafu lads. An absolute beast of the game. Probably got everything in his back pocket it was that easy for him. 3 world cups and a CL or two?
Best defensive midfielder for me was probably Michael Essien he had a couple of seasons at Chelsea where he was unreal
Beckenbauer for me. Complete footballer as evidenced that only 2 defenders have ever won the Ballon D'or and he's won it twice. Favourite player to watch was Van Basten
Maldini was my favourite growing up, always loved degenders. Weird one to add, obviously not the best ever in terms of overall career but in terms of natural talent I have seen few who matched him... Jonathon ****ing Woodgate. Made the game look so damn easy. Best English centre back I have ever seen without a doubt. Such a shame about injuries.
My best ever has to be Messi, the guy is just a genius. Best premiership player ever for me is Thierry Henry, I loved watching him play, he just glides across the pitch, he had everything.
