Yep. **** the FA. **** the PL. **** the Big 6. **** the Elite. Oh and **** VAR and 48 team world cups as well. Bunch of ****ers ruining the sport for money.
We’ve got to please the Big 6 and feed their utter greed. This just shows, if ever we needed reminding, that the PL and the rest have completely lost any affinity with real football. It’s one of the reasons why being in the PL is not such a joyous prospect.
And this is why I like the NFL, the whole system isn't rigged to favour 6 teams unlike football in which there's only 6 teams that matter and the rest are making up the numbers
Point taken. Normal business will soon resume, temporary irritants do from time to time interrupt the status quo. I now honestly wish they’d gone off to form a greed based super league. This is a new low and sucker punch to the real football teams throughout the lower leagues.
Even simpler, any team qualifying for European competition gets excluded from the FA Cup and League Cup. That’s why they’re whining about replays after all.
I've said for years the league cup should be for teams not in Europe only. The bulk of it is played pre Christmas while the European group stages are played so makes sense in terms of fixture congestion. Give the winner a conference league spot and you'd get a different winner every year too.
I say every year I think clubs in Europe should miss the EFL Cup that season, and it would make it a more appealing competition for many other teams and fans. As for the FA Cup, I think this change (no replays) was inevitable given new European schedule. Unpopular opinion but I don’t think it’s the big clubs “preference” that has caused this change; I think that following UEFA’s announcement there simply are not enough available midweeks to make it logistically possible any more
I'm totally fine with scrapping replays. I rarely find myself enjoying them - usually cold, midweek, in an empty ground and a second string side. There are other things which can be done to help smaller clubs - such as giving the lower ranked team most (or even all) of the ticket revenue, and/or giving them the choice of whether they want to play at home or away, and/or increasing the prize money in the earlier rounds. I also agree about the suggestion of excluding European PL teams from the league cup.
Emi Martinez was causing absolute chaos in that penalty shootout, almost getting himself sent off . Apparently yellow cards in the game do not carry into the shootout so he got away with his ****housery. Ultimately he came out as the hero and saved two pens.
I absolutely love him. My favourite (non-saints) goalkeeper of all time. Absolute **** house plus he backs it up by being amazing. What a guy
I find it pathetic that teams like Man City whinge about hectic schedules. I've seen City's academy set up with my own eyes - it's amazing. If players are so burnt out why not play the prospects that come through these incredible set ups instead?
It's a shame that it's come to that. I was a schoolboy watching us beat WBA 4-0 in a replay on a Weds night in 1976, a step along the way to ultimate glory. Without replays, I wouldn't have that memory and potentially we lose at The Hawthorns and are still trophyless.
