Think we were extremely close to appointing him when Advocaat was deciding between returning or retiring. I do like him, would need a huge squad overhaul though.
I really like him, great guy and his teams are hard to beat n they work so hard However, i dont believe he is a fit with our squad - he prefers to work with more experienced players and i know people that have worked with him who say his training can be quiet boring - lots of sessions on the out of possession stuff. Just dont think he would suit the players we have, he hasn't really developed many younger players over the yrs so really dont think he fits our 'model'
I like Dyche as a personality (I think most people do), but he would be a bit of a throwback for us in terms of how we do things and how he would likely want to do things, that plus he is probably currently earning x5 whatever we will be offering our next manager.
Dyche comes across as a throwback to the days of the 'iron fist' club manager. I just don't see our young squad warming to him, or our younger fan base.
Apologies if I’ve missed something but why are we talking about a 4.2 million buy out / compensation for Still if his contract with Riems finishes at the end of the season or is this if we want him in before end of season???
His contract runs until 2025. So there will be some form of compensation, under normal circumstances that would be around half a million (making presumptions on his wages), which is reasonable for a manager of his status, some people have said he has a clause in the contract which sets the compensation at approx €4m, apparently that expires in the summer, then suddenly it doesn't expire. I'm starting to think all of this is bollocks, or at least nobody is really in the know about it.
In our prem years he felt very much like he’d end up here at some point, was close once if i remember right? Not sure how he’d work in our current set up but always quite liked him
Wouldn't go near Dyche personally, not a criticism just a question of fit, feel sorry for him at Everton and would like to see him have a shot at proper success but it isn't with us.
I tought that too but unable to find a source other than it is 4.2 mil . No mention of Stills contract finishing at the end of the season.
Stills contract runs until 2025, you can find sources showing that. Sometimes clauses are inserted to run for a specific amount of time, to protect a particular party in the short term or for an interim period that does not run the full length of contract. When we signed Cirkin from Spurs they had a buy-back clause that lasted 2 years, even though he signed a 3 year deal with us. For example.
He signed a new contract, running until 2025, in June 2023. Some reports claim he can leave for a set fee this summer.
In reality, nobody knows. People are just guessing. No point worrying about it, let's just see what happens
