You would delay the press against City and just be compact in the midfield. Until recently it was enough to have them go back towards Ingram/Allsopp frustrated. People think pressing is someone going hell for leather at an opponent to win the ball. That's shutting down. Pressing can be done from a distance, its about the unit closing options gradually and because teams know we're not that good at it very few of them press hard, they will simply shut off the balls to the wingers and attacking midfielders. We're getting better now and Jacob and Alfie have a really good understanding, I have a feeling this is why coyle was chosen ahead of mecca too against Leeds looking at it.
So it was Tan who stepped in and said something was it ? Obviously that's just speculation but don't you think they've had conversations all season ? It would be more far fetched to think they hadn't communicated until recently
Another good aspect of being a good manager Is being able to listen to feedback and constantly learning Which liam is The football we played on saturday showed why hes a good manager
I agree with that but as people have said Middlesborough suited the style he plays. We need to see if this learned behaviour you talk of is existent in the next 4 games because I fear it was just QPR being really poor. I genuinely hope you're right but I don't see how we can go through life without a different system, especially in a league like the Championship.
I don't think QPR were really poor, but their setup suited us. It was risky but might on another day have gone another way. Huddersfield for example, played the total opposite way and looked a much worse team, but came closer to getting a result against us perhaps because that ultra-defensive style is more effective against us. In terms of the immediate future, I'm not sure we'll have another game this season where the opposition sits back. Three away games, where it doesn't usually happen, and then Ipswich at home who will need a result and will presumably trust their ability to get one playing on the front foot rather than coming here to defend.
Oh I’m a relatively old newbie , wasn’t aware , but it has taken away MY opportunity to feel and be superior , now I’m going to have to look for the less obvious - damn the history !
people usually say it's bad for the owners/etc to influence the manager's style of play but isnt it better for the manager/owner to have conversations rather than the owner waiting to sack him?
Ironically the two worst ones would not label themselves old. One of them when telling everyone they are wrong on football, climate change and EVs and don’t understand things like he does often refers to old people or angry old people whilst being angry himself.
Do you know what ? I’ve enjoyed this season , the quality of football technically has been some of the best I’ve ever seen a city side play , the results away from home have been decent , in the past if we went behind it was goodnight Vienna . We don’t panic and keep doing what we are good at . Its a very young inexperienced side overall so mistakes happened and performances for some fluctuated . Only blot was home form and not enough shots . Unfortunately these days if you have or get ‘stars’ they don’t often stay for various reasons . Anyway a few games to go so not done yet , happy to stick it on Ipswich last match we need revenge !!
Unfortunately we are likely to see a big turnover of players this summer Some reaching the end of their contracts some ending loans some wanting to play at a higher lever plus some Liam will want to move on I know this happens every year but it seems likely to be even more extreme this year
https://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/football/queensparkrangers/forum/308329/page:1 QPR view. Sorry if someone’s already posted this link but I can’t be arsed to scroll past all the petty arguing on a MDT.
The best line on any forum of any team this weekend... FACT.. “Lyndon Dykes, all the decision making abilities of someone who thinks you heat milk in a kettle.” Seems Willock stepped it up a little this weekend according g to their forum, maybe a gently nudge in our direction...
I seem to remember we had three earlier in the season, but I can’t remember which game. At least once in the League One season, we had three and the manager, Honeyman, Smallwood, Long and McCann.
