Not really. Russ is awful at shoring up a game. Awful. Partly because he won’t play two DMs at the right time.
Every now and then there is a suggestion of playing Stephens in central midfield. It sounds like we have a good idea why it isn’t really considered and never really has been before

I think it is actually a good idea. I’ve always wanted to see him there. He is strong and good on the ball, but switches off at CB. I think he could be a great DM. But not in the middle of a must win game when it’s never been tried before. Bat **** management
Players looked really tired second half. Tuesday need to make changes. Manning, Stuie, Fraser all back in, at the least. Smallbone started well first 20 mins, but his chasing back and tackling is so poor. Downes, Aribo, and Stuie. This is the way.
I’m interested to know how many players successfully switch positions late in their careers. Legit question. Ryan Giggs did and I’m sure there are several more. Didn’t Dublin become a central defender?
And Bednarek? Anyone know why he hasn’t been starting? He was part of the unchanged defence during a really successful run
