They probably would have let him go for cheaper to another club, I'd like to think there's some payback for when they said we could have Lingard on loan if we paid £12m if we stayed up.

I think it's stupid, personally. Makes us look petty. £10m comp was more than sufficient. we should be moving on as rapidly as we can and not worrying about what Ashworth does or doesn't know. I mean, if he oversaw that disaster in 2023, let him go!

Mail are reporting that we've whittled the shortlist down to three outstanding candidates, but are yet to settle on which of those three we are going to go with. They're naming Paul Mitchell, Benfica’s Rui Pedro Braz and ex-Roma DoF Tiago Pinto.

 

I suppose it's not going to be any worse than Ashley and Charnley.
