The motor car would have failed at the very early stage, were it not for the lobbying by cycle groups to get better surfaces on cart tracks. Had they not been successful, cars would have been a bad idea as a mode of transport over any distance. Unfortunately they soon pushed the cyclists out of the way. Ironic that cars owe their success to cyclists.
Everyone of course realises that whilst the great unwashed are in 15 minute cities, the ones who implement them won’t be in them. Read up on Agenda 21 before all our freedoms and personal independence are taken away from us by people who will do what they want.
Most governments used taxpayer money to fund road networks, didn't they? Entire cities were either designed around the car or had to adapt to it. Not necessarily a bad thing at the time, but it's false to assert that car popularity was unaided by government help.
Roads have been a thing since way before the ICE they have grown in width and length as the need arose. They have also been a source of revenue since the turnpike days. My point is about the favouring of one propulsion system over another. Much like the incentives given to buy a diesel vehicle not so long ago.
Infamy, infamy, they'll all got it in for me! (P.S. For those unaware, Agenda 21 is a non-binding action plan of the United Nations with regard to sustainable development. The utter bastards.)
Ah, the United Nations. The organisation that has appointed Saudi Arabia to chair the forum on women’s rights and gender equality. No doubt that will be non-binding. For them and similar countries anyway.
Don’t know why it would spoil things for Van Morrison’s lot. But, whatever… (Apologies if this vitriol laden post has upset you in any way.)
Hmmm, subtle or succinct, sod it I'll go subtle. No ****er on here could upset me, as Les Tosseurs sang, 'It's only words'. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
Strange correlation between those adamant about not accepting electric cars and those wanting LR out as manager... What's the link!? ;
They'll always be tossers to me. (Door ajar for the reply Anderson got) The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
Where everything is within 15mins So no cars And everyone lives in huge tower blocks Like judge dredd
I looked it up on Google: The 15-minute city is an urban planning concept in which most daily necessities and services, such as work, shopping, education, healthcare, and leisure can be easily reached by a 15-minute walk, bike ride, or public transit ride from any point in the city. This approach aims to reduce car dependency, promote healthy and sustainable living, and improve wellbeing and quality of life for city dwellers. A bit like housing estates were meant to be, but weren't
Basically 15min cities are to keep the riff raff contained away from the posh outskirt areas and ban cars
