we have lots of tough games. we will battle but we can be taken apart. I can't make head nor tail of atlanta's form. anything could happen. we should be winning it. everton away will be a battle and a bad ref could make it very tough. villa away will be almost impossible if we can't score 3. the home games are OK. West ham and moyes away? again it suits us. I expected us to need 3 to beat utd pregame but didn't expect us to throw one in to help them
I think you’re right, only the Spurs game in the way for Arsenal. They have improved over last season and look unlikely to choke again. I think there are problems with balance in the team, we often start poorly and concede a goal before we get going. The left side is a constant struggle for us, teams often use long balls into space on that side and we struggle. I knew yesterday was going to be difficult, not because United are a good team, they are poor, but because we have failed to beat them twice before this season when we should have and we did it again yesterday. I hope there are some unexpected results for City and Arsenal, but it is hope rather then expectation
I just think Arsenal scoring in every game between now and the end of the season is about as likely as us getting maximum points - it might happen, but I just don't see it. They will have one game where everything goes wrong and they drop points imo. It might be the Spurs game or it might be any other. Whereas City might have a game where everything goes wrong and they still pull out a win.
Not the end of the world. We shouldn't forget that both the Arsenal and city sides have had an awful lot longer in their development than we've had. With the amount of injuries forcing us to play youngsters with no first team experience, (including in a cup final) and the abysmal, costly refereeing decisions we've endured this season, it just shows how exceptional this team has been. And we're still joint top on points. That's a phenomenal achievement all things considered.
He's been immense and has a very big future ahead of him. He will learn from yesterday; you learn more from losses / mistakes than when things go to plan
As I've said further up, I'd play Elliott in a 4-4-2. More important for the midfield to support the creativity of Macca further up as a 10 than have the luxury of 3 strikers all tripping over the ball and a conversation rate of 1-in-5.
I am expecting another performance like the Arsenal performance where we couldn't string 2 passes together before the end of the season. At the moment we can't rest players due to the frequency of games. The ideal situation would be to get a nice lead first leg this week so we can give some game time to Jota, Trent and Alisson in the second leg
This is my default position anyway. Of course I get caught up in the moment over individual games, but in the end it's all we can do to sit back and watch. I can't really get into the extensive analysis that goes on after each game, I'm not a football tactician and whatever I think is irrelevant to what happens in reality anyway, so I feel it's a waste of my energy chafing over something I'm powerless to influence. I'm over the emotion of yesterday now, more or less. All is not lost - yet, let's move on to the next one.
thats can happen but we will still fight. if nothing else we can rely on klopp and the players to give their all to try. Yes we need to get a lead this thruday. absolutely. Ican't prefdict what atleanta will turn up fomr thier current results. If we cna establish a lead that would be great. We need to see jota, alisson and trent won't be fit and will be more disruptive than anything else most likley. we have to mind them through to get something out of them in the last games.
I've not been able to watch the game yet. I've also not read the comments on here yet but I can predict what has been written based on the result. In response to what I'm sure has been written. It's absolutely not over yet... we just have to play extra clean the rest of the season. 7 Games. If we get 7 wins we will get the title. Yes, I know the GD... it's absolutely advantage Arsenal... I can see us maybe getting 7 wins. I can see Arsenal maybe getting 7 wins. But the odds of us both winning every remaining game is astronomically small- so let's forget GD for now. We just can't drop points again if we want to be safe.
Has fat ****s reckless tackle been mentioned from yesterday? Red all day long. The Manc ****er ref has full view of it
Wouldn’t have made a difference given the time, but it’s one of the clearest red cards you’ll see all season. But again seems like refs didn’t want to make a big call in the last minute of a game - similar to the city pen incident.
Think just one of those games. If we play like that in every game remaining we’ll prob win every single one of them. We gifted them an open goal (admittedly well taken but I’d expect any pro footballer to score in that chance) and then mainoo scored a worldie out of no where. Replay the game again with same chance each and prob ends up 5-1 so think just put it down to one of those days. Nothing to be overly concerned about, everyone played well enough just needed that final bit of composure
the thing was fernandes hit it badly down the middle of goal and it sliced towards the post so he just got it in. and lucky for us too as I think kelleher was outside the box if he had put a hand to it.
why would it? we've game after game after game of evidence that says what happened was not out of the ordinary for us and that we will miss the same again. our second pregame against the top have suggested we might well concede more than 1 goal so even the score line is not out of bounds. sadly we let a lot of goals in and we have score most of our goals in the bottom half games.
Tend to agree. I'm not sure if it's still the same, but a couple of weeks ago we were the top scorers iac across the top 5 leagues in Europe. We've had a couple of games where we've missed a lot of chances, but overall our scoring stats are high.
