Another I wouldn’t mind is looking at is Joe Taylor, would probably rely on Luton staying up, spent half the year in league 2 at Colchester second half on loan at Lincoln and has 21 goals, 21 years old grafts his arse off and more importantly knows where the net is
Dodds should have no say on next season - the next head coach should decide that. Major problem is how much say this junior coach has.
Dodds must be fairly sure he will be here next season, I do hope it’s not him who does the retained list.
Aye comes across that way. Absolutely the wrong way to go and will be massively limiting who will be prepared to take the job.
There was a moment towards the end of the game where he got the ball on the right and drove into the box from the area near the corner flag, he lost the ball and Bristol were able to clear. He had a moment where he could have crossed and chose to take on two defenders instead. He has been making poor decisions a lot this season.
When we have injured players back we have a fantastic defence. Hume…Ballard…Alese…Cirkin/Huggins. With Onion playing in the Evans position.
Won't be near promotion with players like Roberts being mainstays in the team. You need actual output from your forward players, not a few dribbles.
Dodds saying what he expects does not mean he’s making a decision or having any influence. If a new bloke comes in and doesn’t fancy Roberts it will just be a case of not what Dodds expected.
I've given this a little bit of thought today so here goes. Starting with the head coach. My top 3 choices are as follows: 1) Will Still 2) Steve Cooper 3) Ole Gunnar Solskjaer All 3 of those are hugely ambitious appointments and would have me excited that we mean business. That being said, I'm willing to give anyone a chance and I can get on board as long as they buy into the club philosophies. Onto players out. Clarke will be gone this summer, of that I have no doubt. I also don't think we can demand the £20-25m that some will expect. Somewhere above £15m rising into the higher bracket depending on clauses etc. is my guess. I don't think there will be anyone else we will lose, but I think we need to thin out the squad to allow others to join. I'd be ok with us moving on the following: Bishop, Pembele, Benette, Dack, Diamond, Matete and Rusyn plus Styles and Burstow. I think we have a tougher decision to make with our injured full backs - Are Huggins, Cirkin and Alese actually going to stay fit enough to have good careers? If the club have good information on this, they should consider moving at least one of them on. Then I'd be looking at loan moves in the football league for Matty Young, Tommy Watson, Oliver Bainbridge, Eliezer Mayenda and Hemir. For existing players, I'd want regular positions sorted for Ba and Mundle. They'll achieve more consistency by playing the same position every time they start/come on. For players coming in, I'd like to keep the number low and the quality high. If there's money to be spent from the Clarke sale, I'd like it to be focused on DM and a striker. 2 players who will cost fees and come with experience. We'll then need another striker to compete and a winger (I'll take a young promising one) plus maybe 1 more who provides a bit of flexibility. Examples of a set of players I'd like (though it's all hypothetical so not realistic) are Ryan Hardie, Morgan Whittaker and Bali Mumba from Plymouth if they go down, Matt Grimes from Swansea and Patrick Bamford who could be available cheap from Leeds. Alternatives to Matt Grimes (which is the most unrealistic imo) would be Alex Mowatt or Ollie Norwood who's contracts are both up this summer.
I’d be looking to raid Peterborough if they didn’t come up, Edwards (unlikely) poku and burrows (if we can’t keep cirkin/aji fit) will all improve us
I would have Cooper ahead of Still IF he was interested. I would expect Neil and Ballard to follow Clarke out the door. I'd hope we'd have 15m in our pockets after JC sale, Neil 15m and Ballard 10m + a further 10m we'd be planning to spend anyway.
Mowatt should be our no1 target imo, exactly the type we need. Hes got a bit of everything, brings experience, composure and a nasty side Id be happy with those 3 managers, id have Rohl in my top 3 tho - something about him that i really like so he would be my 1st choice. Players to go: Dack Diamond Jewi Matete Embo Evans (wouldnt be against a 1 yr deal) Burstow (I know hes on loan but dont want him back) Clarke (dont want him to go but we will sell him this summer) Loan out Hemir Triantis Johnson Watson Young Mayenda Signings 2x CFs, my 2 would be Cannon and matanovic (young striker in germany but played plenty, n has the size n work rate for the championship) 2xCM, this will depend on styles. Mowatt n morton (probably not realistic but if we get good money for clarke id like someone like him) 1xCB, cresswell would be my pick here 1x x factor forward - Amad That would give us Gk - patto n bishop Rb - hume n pembele Lb - cirkin n alese (id consider signing another lb because of their injuries, burrows would be my choice) Cb - ballard o9 hjelde cresswell CM - neil mowatt ekwah rigg morton jobe adil (he would be an attacking mid or wide option) Rm - amad roberts ba Lm - rusyn mundle Cf - cannon matanovic
Rohl is class, he should really have been 3rd on my list. Morton is a superb shout, again inconsistency from me as I think he's unrealistic (but I picked Grimes who is more unrealistic). I'll watch you tube videos of your big German centre forward!
Im a big fan of grimes, agree with you that its unrealistic (as morton will be) Plenty players out there, just need to get the mix right - bar the young striker all my targets have experience in the league which is key Got a couple other targets in mind for us but going to watch a few more highlights then will share on here
Think it was more to do with his decision making - diving in, leaving himself no chance. And then doing it again. And again
