FOREST COYS
Tottenham 3 - 0 Nottingham Forest Son, Johnson and Werner (My life will be hell if we lose this.....)
Next up we face a desperate Nottingham Forest on Sunday evening, with everything for us to lose….. No worries, then! I was inspired to reminisce about the year(s) that Forest carried the flag for English clubs in Europe, and even won the Champions League (45 years ago) under their outspoken, quixotic manager. And the thought that the forest in question is famous for another inhabitant in bygone days led me to the song I’ve adapted this week. I couldn’t find a recording that had all the verses in it!!! Just some bizarre video versions instead. nb I have also studiously avoided any references to Tim Sherwood. Chorus: Brian Clough’s Forest team won the Champions League; Brian Clough, Brian Clough, now they’ve got fatigue! Once they were smooth, now they are rough - Brian Clough, Brian Clough, Brian Clough! He called the greatest players to the Forest and his team: They vowed to win that trophy for their boss. They handled all their rivals on the Euro-footie scene, But now each game’s an odds-on loss. Right now the Forest hover on the relegation gap; We know they’ll come here looking for a fight But Son is always ready, and young Brennan Johnson’s sharp. We’ll worsen their plight on Sunday night. With Origi and Toffolo they have a cheeky look, (And) They’ll try to play as others wouldn't dare. They’ll find it hard to free themselves from relegation’s hook - (But) We need points, too, so we won’t care! Prediction: Spurs 2 Nottingham Forest 1 Scorers: Son, Johnson Cheers, Spurf (I hope you enjoyed your sojourn in civilised society.)
