1 point out of a possible 12 against Norwich and Leeds, is that a couple of slightly more mature managers outthinking KM ?
Or is it 2 teams, that have had parachute payments from the premier league, beating a team that has just come up from League one?
Nowhere in my post did I say he was a master tactician. Just KM is still on a massive learning curve and these two managers have been around a while.
Yeah, not an enjoyable watch. Thought McK got it wrong playing Tuanzebe, who was poor against Southampton and has started to give me deja vu of Chambers at right back (namely a CB doing his best but not really equipped for the role). His passing was terrible and he didn't help Hutch out with overlaps to relieve the pressure of always being doubled up on. I thought Luongo was also bad, seemed a half yard behind everything, had a lack of energy and played too many slack passes. Overall, it seemed like either the pressure or fatigue, or a combination of both, got to us today. The passing was off and we played back to the CBs way too often instead of driving forward. I saw opportunities to open them up on the break but the decision making was wrong and most attacks came to nothing because we'd given them time to get back in shape or picked the wrong pass. The ref got involved when he didn't need to and then ignored the calls he should've made. Norwich weren't great, we were worse.
Spot on SD. As I said to our Leeds friend, we cant win them all. We lost and they lost, and Leicester on a poor run, managed to win again!
Was a bad day at the office, and yes, mckenna is still learning, I disagree with him that we had to play the game, not the occasion. We've lost twice to Leeds, and not beaten our old enemies, which is probably no coincidence. If we had more fight, then we couldve got something out of the game, ad Norwich were there for the taking. In saying all that, we're probably in a better place for autos after this weekend, as we now only have 5 games to win to go straight up
The home games against those two were a completely different story but it’s probably true that we’ve bottled it in those hostile atmospheres at Elland Road and Carrow Road. The interviews both say, “it’s important to the fans, but not to us.” Can’t imagine the likes of Warky or Milton or Holland saying that.
If we had been offered this scenario at the beginning of the season we would all have ripped their arm off for it. In the grand scheme of things it’s just a little local difficulty and in no way detracts from what has been a brilliant season. It’s understandable given all the demands emotionally and physically expended by the players the other night. This was definitely an after the Lord Mayor style performance!
Saw the goal back. I don’t think this one is all Hladky’s fault although he should do better. What the f is that defensive wall doing?
Is it the same one they used to celebrate the 50th anniversary of their FA Cup semi final defeat ? Just wondering.
Why didnt we play like we usually do, Davis bombing down the left touchline with a quick one two with Luongo or Broadhead and the ball whipped into the box where there would be two or three waiting to get on it, instead we got Davis getting to the half way line, stopping and passing sideways and backwards and the momentum was lost. Hutchinson, Chaplin, Moore and Broadhead all anonymous with no ball to work with and Hladky going off on one yet again but getting away with it, so there was no pace or energy with everything being played at a virtual walking pace which just isnt us resulting in hardly a worthwhile shot at goal. We have had periods like this in recent games so is it a squad punching way above its weight running out of steam at the end of the season ? or the limitations of a weaker squad than the big teams and established Championship Clubs finally being exposed ?( This is our Lg1 side for the most part ) Or is it just a phase all Clubs go through in a season ? Whatever it is i wouldnt trade a win yesterday to swap league positions with them.
Tuanzebe I expect to be a bit flaky. It’s the performance of Burgess that’s really confusing. I didn’t like some of the defensive communication either - they were blaming each other - that says to me the pressure is getting to them a bit.
I don't think anyone played too badly yesterday, it was just one of those games, to be honest it had 0-0 written all over it, the momentum changed slightly when the ref kept giving a load of soft free kicks everytime Sargeant fell over. Norwich haven't lost a home game since November, teams a have starter setting up to deal with us as title challengers now rather than plucky underdogs, some of our players are showing signs of a long season and not able to maintain such a high level for so long. RB has been the problem position for me all season, no one has looked consistent there. Tuanzebe shows signs of being a great player then other times he gets caught out, physically hes got great attributes but for me he's still half a yard behind. Because the subs have been so good this season I do think we elevate them to start games and when they do we usually realise why they're a back up. Clarke hasn't made the RB position his own, made numerous defensive mistakes and actually isn't as attacking as he could be when he starts games, coming on he is because that's usually what he's been asked to do at the end of games. Luongo hasn't been on top form this year and Taylor comes on and generally does well but when ever he's started for me Morsey then doesn't look like the same player. Due to mainly some of the cameo performances of Hutchingson this season Burns has been questioned but Hutchingson hasn't always been impactful when starting, and it's only when Burns is missing we realise what he brings to the team that others don't.
