Having picked my predictions last night...I came online this morning to post them... to find that... BC had posted his selection overnight....and had 10 identical predictions to me ?.....so I've changed some to make sure that there is a chance of overhauling BC if correct.....but of course if BC has got it right then I've talked myself out of some valuable points ?

Methinks you are taking this a bit too seriously. Instead of inspecting the opposition you should post what you think first and then look at other entries. Otherwise it isn't your predictions is it.

 

There are a couple of areas where what others are doing is a factor I think.

Goal Times for one. If 19 minutes and 21 minutes are already taken, 20 minutes wouldn't be a smart choice. Also, anyone who notices that the majority of us tend to go in 10 to 30 minute area might well think that choosing something like 45 minutes gets them a 52 minute window, from say 38 to 90 minutes. No names, no pack drill.

Also, Jokers. If seven of us have all picked the same match, which does happen, then picking the same game is the defensive strategy: if you don't get it, neither does anyone else, whilst picking a different game is the offensive strategy in trying to be the only one who's right. I picked a joker nobody else did last time out (Cardiff v Hull) when 5 of your had gone for Leicester v Birmingham and I crashed and burned as a result!

The point I think Plym is making though is that the chances of two people picking not just 12 identical results but also 24 identical scores must be tiny. In fact if we assume nobody predicts more than 3 goals per team, then it's 1 over 4 to the power of 24, which is a disappearingly small number. Either that, or they're both using the same gambling site....
