Since about 2016 I've had to go to hospital every year, mostly twice a year for procedures, that's excluding consultant appointments and preassessments. Last time I saw the consultant was around October last year, last preassessement around November time (would need to look up precise dates).. Anyway originally I was in within two weeks of the consultant and assessment, at the most I waited a month or two, even during covid years, everything went fine, surprisingly. This time I've been waiting six months, now. I've not chased it mostly due to anxiety reasons, which is natural, you just want to keep plodding along and not think about it. However, yesterday something different happened, even though I was actually thinking of phoning them soon, due to concerns. Anyway I received a message on my phone from the NHS - It's where everything links in through the apps these days, from your medical records, for want of whatever its called. I had to respond to a question, from Waiting Coordinator at the NHS. It asked if I still wanted to hold my appointment for my operation, as it had been so long, and I was to simply respond yes or no - if I said no, they would advise my doctor that I no longer wished to have treatment. Like WTF? Anyway I responded with the predictable YES, but you don't even get a response or record that you done that. I'm in two minds whether to ring them today, so if it was to save time, it actually has probably created phone traffic into the hospitals now, from patients concerned about what is going on. Just hope Labour have a plan for this shhite, and it's not one involved going private. I forgot to add, the message did say my expected date of been seen was January, which would have tied in with normal procedures times.
I’m getting messages through on my Dads phone about upcoming appointments asking if he’s still going and that I need to reply YES, NO or CANCEL. Obviously, I’m replying CANCEL to them all and they’re ringing me within 24 hours to ask the reason why and checking he’s sure about it. My own appointment to see my consultant was supposed to be tomorrow but they informed me this week it’s now been put back until June. I’m assuming it’s because of the strikes that have been going on but I’m just guessing with that.
You don't need that stress on top of dealing with a condition. Welcome to the world of contracted out services in the NHS, where everybody is trying to do it on the cheap and automate as much as they can. I think Labour will probably stick with most of this tendering model, but hopefully they will manage it in a best value way, rather than just dishing out contracts to their mates like this bunch of tory ****es have. Hope the situation gets sorted for you on a personal level mate. And I would be ringing a human to make sure they understand too. My old dear gets all of her appts on an automated system now and she has to respond to electronic requests for this sort of stuff. She's getting old and doesn't understand what she's clicked or even whether she has at all. Luckily she's got me to manage it all for her. But there must be loads of older people out there, with complex needs who haven't got a clue how this **** works.
Its not just the NHS, it's also happening to the military. Contracting out army recruitment to a private firm instead of, you know, the ****ing army. It is causing delays in people joining up and some just drop out completely. Its privatisation for the sake of it
Yeah this is the trouble with automation it seems an insesitive way of dealing with things to me, although even having to talk on the phone to someone in your situation is not easy either. Which leads me to say, sorry to read about your Dad the other day Saf, I really didn't know what to say when I read it other than human emotions becoming robotic, so left it until now mate. Take care. I should have added, I always get the appointment ones, first time for a waiting list one though.
What I'm not understanding with waiting lists for me, this has only just become a problem, so I'm literally talking about since November 2023 and I'm like but why now, I guess the strikes must have been what tipped the balance. I even ask myself does the consultant know about this (the delay) - Like you say I probably should ring them, which generally means I will wait until my mood gives me the energy to do that.
you can always ask @Saf to ring on your behalf if you want to expedite it He's already got everyones details
Looks like it's been knocked up by a GCSE student 2nd most powerful country in the world along with the 2nd worst performing economy amongst the world's major economies.
Cheers mate. The last few days were horrendous, it was a relief when it all come to an end. Sorting everything out now, so much to get through. Funeral arranged for next Friday and then I can get on with my life again
Nice to see you’ve come to your senses and climbed down from ‘The Tories will ever get in power again’ You’re right, Labour will definitely get two terms and probably three. Then the Tories will get voted back in and around and around we go.
shes loving life right now. Been in HK having a jolly the past 6 months whilst i pay her mortgage (she had 3 weeks in uk over christmas)
If Reform could actually win seats and were considered credible, the Tories might actually be in trouble. Since they're not, they're not in trouble and will survive. 10 years opposition will give them time to heal.
The economy always has some sort of crash for one reason or other. When it happens, the government always takes the blame. That’s when people will ditch Labour.
The economy isn't the best right now, but it's nowhere near as bad as it was at the run up to the 2010 election and Labour almost held on. I think the people are genuinely just sick of the Tories, they worked ****ing hard to ditch "The Nasty Party" title, but under Truss and Sunak it's came back full force.
please log in to view this image In all seriousness you had the credit crunch which impacted on getting mortgages and credit facilities for businesses. That's still the same today. But house prices were still easily affordable particularly for first time buyers so ppl were still buying and able to get on the property ladder, inflation didn't go above 5% and the bank base rate didn't go above 0.5%. And the cost of living was not remotely anywhere close to what we're experiencing with utilities, fuel, groceries etc. It was nowhere near as bad for Joe public as it is now or has been in the past 2 years.
