I don't mind the wander off with no direction part but from what I can tell even minor enemies can **** you up so need to learn that fast and leave bosses alone for a long time from what I can gather.

The bosses are a different thing all together <laugh> fuking impossible for me and i aint got time to be learning attack patterns and **** like that so fuked it off.

Im not one for playing games that stress me out or make we wanna throw my controller at the telly so i will avoid fromsoft games from now on.

But the real gripe with that game was the lack of direction for missions and things to do, it felt like an incompleted game in that respect for me.

I'll let you know how I get on. I just felt I needed a change from the usual titles and waiting for the next version that it's slightly different to come out.

Gotta build my ranch first though.

I've finished BG3 once so far and it took me about 150 hours too. Want to do other play-throughs but will probably give it a few years.

I played Fallout 1 and 2 back in the day but for some reason missed all of the other Bethesa/Oblivion games. Finished Skyrim about 3 years back but just completed Morrowind and Oblivion in the last year (Morrowind is probably my favourite of the 3 as you can pretty much make your character do anything, much less limited than the other games - if you can get past how dated it now looks). Just playing through Fallout: New Vegas at the moment for the first time and love it - except the DLC dead money which I found jarring.

I picked up a fallout bundle a couple of years back just to replay 1 and 2. It came with 3, 4, New Vegas and tactics too but I've just never got around to playing them. I was advised that New Vegas was a winner and it's been excellent so far. I'll work through 3 and 4 after but we're talking the next year or two here.

dunno why i put off finishing BG3 but i completed it last night.

Kind of glad i did as i heard a load of people moaning about the finished ending which they have reupdated. Nice epic scenes before the final fight.

Just started a new durge run but unsure if i will go into it straight away. i might actual go play BG1 and BG2 first.

I burnt out on BG3 and took a 3 month break after Act 2, liked Act 3 as a result but the game is just massive and gets samey - plus when you stop levelling early in Act 3 you lose some of the feel. Still think most of the complaints about the end were just because the first half is so good and the second half is mostly more of the same - I don't think it's worse really.

I completed BG1 for the first time last summer before I played BG3. I was going to do BG2 as well but haven't yet. I liked 1 but:

    a) it's ridiculously hard if you don't know what you're doing and it doesn't exactly help you in that regard. It's very of it's time and relies on you either knowing how the rules of D&D worked then or have read the presumably massive accompanying literature that the game will have been packaged with. As a result I played on easy mode and still never got to grips with some of the systems. Fun story though and the entire game only took like 10-15 hours iirc.

    b) 2 is meant to be a better game in every aspect. I''ll get into it but probably in the Summer when i can try and complete it in a week.

    c) try to avoid spoilers. The story advances when you sleep and is much more atmospheric if you don't know what's going to happen next. It's tricky to avoid all the spoilers, especially as chunks of it are referenced in BG3. It'll certainly make parts of BG3 make more sense!

i really enjoyed BG3 all the way through to act 3. The unique characters you meet and continue to meet along the way and the voice acting is top notch. It was in act 3 that i found it slows down. Naturally it was a bit more npc ish and theres a few more bugs but i put it down and it was a while before i picked it up again plus the act that i was pretty much fullly level by early in act 3 so tasks were just tasks.

Yea, i don't really like using guides so i pretty much went into bg3 and rested a lot to make sure i got all of the storylines. I eventually succumbed to using a guide on some of the quests in act 3.

If you played and liked BG1 you'll like 2. You kinda know the rules now and you can load your character from BG1 into it at the start as it's a continuation of the story. even if you start from scratch all new characters start at L7, so you have a bit of survivability, unlike the start of BG1.
2 is one of my favourite games tbh.

Want to get 3, but not til it's cheaper.

started playing 1. Its very different maybe because i'm just exploring and only on chapter 2 but the characters aren't as deep and there are slightly less interactions. Had to read up on how to play it properly and all that thaco **** also its real time with a lot of missing so not sure that helps too much. It's been interesting so far. Every forum i read though is that people (bearing in mind BG1 forums) is they prefer the BG1 and BG2 plot lines which i can understand.
