Based on martins assessment of players so far we are probably missing out in a gem of a player

Been watching and following since 1970/71 - my late brother took me to a 0-3 home defeat by Leeds United (April 24th Mick Jones' birthday, he scored two goals, nothing much changes :emoticon-0102-bigsm) but it would be nice to have a simple good season, best players play when available in their strongest positions, the team generally beats teams they should and the club/players don't make the same mistakes over and over and over again.

It's a good job it's just sport, a game, if this were real life it would be so tiring....

Hey ho - Blackburn Rovers away in my mind usually ends in a 2-1 defeat regardless of the manager or squad.

He rocked up at Aberdeen in February, supposedly until the end of the season. Liz Truss lasted longer, and she was worse than useless. The only game he won was against Bonnyrigg Rose in the cup. Rather than motivating the players, he just slagged them off in the media, and treated the position as a sort of part-time retirement job. So he`s a no from me!

Common sense, logic and perspective have no place on this board.

I went to that game too. I was in the Milton Road end, all standing in those days and packed in like sardines. No segregation either and I somehow came face to face with a Leeds supporter who pulled a screwdriver* from his pocket and told me to "get out of the ****ing way or I'll stab you". Luckily the crowd moved and he went with them. Ever since then I've had a special affection for Leeds fans, the scamps. As they would say on the Fast Show "great memories".

*Luckily for me it wasn't a terminal screwdriver. (A little joke for all electricians out there).

Some of you may see Colin in make-up and earrings but us progressives, we see a beautiful woman. C'mon it's 2024 for God's sake.

I know my mum was worried about me going and made my brother swear he'd protect me no matter what - I was 9 he'd have been 15 but a big 'go to the pub and shaving 15' I was busting for a pee at 2-0 and he took me to the toiler where he said he'd never seen anyone pee for so long - we lived in the countryside so caught coach in and home and so we walked back the pick up point before the game finished, heard a big roar and he said 'Oh Saints might have scored' :emoticon-0140-rofl:

So all of this is his fault.....

Oh and I used to be a sparky too, so I get that.

I guess your avatar is you, so it looks like you stopped shaving soon after.

How are things up in the Highlands by the way?

Edit; Sorry I misread that thought it was you shaving at 15 <doh>

Yup that's me - Highlands is peaceful and quiet, also you don't pay for parking in hospitals or prescriptions, or the dentist or eye tests......like it used to be all over the UK not so long ago. So for me I like it.

    https://footballgroundguide.com/leagues/england/championship/ewood-park-blackburn-rovers.html

I used to use this site when we went to away games Stockton but I don't know if this particular advice is any good as we never went to Blackburn. There are one or two suggestions here that may be of use though.
More importantly, could you get me one of those "16 hour slow smoked brisket peppercorn burger at Blackburn Rovers"? That looks a good enough reason to visit BRFC on it's own. Just post it to me but by the size of it, it may need to be a courier.

When I look at the capacities of championship and PL stadia I can’t help thinking it was a mistake to make st Mary’s only 32k.

13.50 for a burger. Who the hell pays that for a snack? For that money I’d expect a 3 course meal with wine. Someone at Blackburn doesn’t realise that they live in the depressed North. World’s gone mad.

It may help up. Get Aribo in from the start, though Stuey has had really good 60-70 mins in the last few games.

OSS, if you still think that £13.50 gets you a 3 course meal with wine, you're probably stuck in the 1970's. Or an Islander. Or a Northerner.

This made me think of a story about John Lambie, manager of Partick Thistle: a Partick player, John McGlashan, suffered concussion during a match. The Partick Assistant Manager Gerry Collins told Lambie " He (Mcglashan)doesn't know who he is". Lambie said: "Tell him he's Pele and get him back on"
