I like this idea. As has been said, Omur is permanent. I also believe Fabio Carvalho loses the ball a lot and holds on to it for too long, which gets overlooked. Omur is more consistent, and given the opportunity, I reckon he’d have done as much in terms of goals/assists as Carvalho. In fact they remind me of Koren (Carvalho) and Cairney (Omur). Koren could do more important things very well but was weak in a challenge and gave the ball away a lot. Cairney very rarely gave the ball away but always played too deep (possibly because he wanted the ball more). I used to cry out for Cairney to be put in that role but because of his goals, Koren could not be dropped.
When the first 3 posts on a page are Peter, orange and Syd = skip 3 pages. Guessing I didn’t miss much?
I Thought Slater could have committed himself to a tackle when chasing down the touchline before they got anywhere near the penalty area.
Im not sure Fabio has lived upto the hype personally, with hindsight the money he’s cost could have been spent better. However full credit to acun for bringing him in. Between omur, tufan and traore (if he stays) there’s enough there to fill that role. Tufan could maybe played in that deeper role as an option
Slightly off topic but I’ve just listened to the 1904 podcast for the first time. The latest one is a good debate and worth listening to
Very true. Unless Acun / Tan pulls some rabbits out of hats and manages to somehow keep Greaves, Philogene, Delap and Morton, come summer we are nowhere near having the 'solid core' we need and you could even argue we've gone backwards this past year in that respect. The churn this summer is going to be ridiculous for where we should be by now in 'the process'. Realistically our remaining 1st team squad will consist of: Keepers: Pandur & Allsop Defenders: Coyle Jones Giles Jacob Midfield & Attack: Tufan Seri Slater Omur
1904 Club - A bad Easter for Hull City as play-off hopes hang by a thread As Easter weekends go, it couldn't have been much worse for Hull City. A turgid 2-0 home defeat to Stoke City on Good Friday was one of the poorest displays of the season, and while Monday's display at Leeds United was impressive, Liam Rosenior's men still lost and remain six points adrift of the top six with only seven games to go. To look back on the Easter weekend and try to inject some positivity - and realism - into things, the 1904 Club panel were on form. Join Barry Cooper, David Prutton, James Fletcher and David Burns as the quartet looked back, and ahead to the weekend visit to Cardiff. https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podca...city-as-play-off/id1310519331?i=1000651193468
I can't see him getting in the Liverpool match day squad lot of young players have overtaken him this season
True but for once we could have thought out of the box and brought big Macca up front for 10 mins or so to replace one of our small forwards as we were tiring and put crosses into the box to test out there keeper, you never know he might have got on the end of one and would have roughed them up a bit.
Or even more out of the box, we could have brought on someone with one of the best ever Championship scoring records, or someone whose goals per minutes ratio in the first half of the season was outstanding, or a Dutch under 21 international. Surely worth a try!
Feel the treatment of Carvalho by some on here is a bit typical City. We hype him up - he's going to be so much better than Twine (who we also hyped up but was rarely played in his best position) - and then when we play him out of position too and he scores 5 goals we say he isn't doing enough. I think he works extremely hard to find pockets of space and has suffered from the fact that the 2 wingers Philogene and Zaroury just so rarely get their heads up and bring him into the game.
From what I've seen of him in close season (where he was our top scorer) he'd be a far better option than any of the other fit strikers available. Never could understand why he's been farmed out.
Its weird because it seems clear that Rosies system cries out for quick, aggressive and direct wingers in the Bowen mould, so not sure why he keeps bringing in the more fancy less direct players. Either play a way that will let flair players get on the ball more and link up or bring players in that are more happy to not see the ball but break incisively when they do get the chance.
Agree, I though this was something Lokilo could have brought if he'd been better as he had the pace and direct running, just no end product.
