Use strikers whose main contribution is defending set pieces and have your defenders score and create the goals. It’s genius really.
**** me Steels, if you could just abstain from watching any of our games for the next 3 seasons, we'd be ****ing Champions League winners in 2026-27 !!
Indeed kiwi… looked like a few quality saves in the first half, regulation stops in second half - would suggest he did his job more than adequately
Having watched the highlights, I still like the look of Hodge. He did some lovely work to set Smyth away and then Chair simply had to score. Anyone else missing that would have received pelters on here. Watch the goal again and see what great movement it was from Cook. More like a centre forward than a centre back. Plus, it looked like a training ground routine, because as soon as Andersen sends it long towards Dunne, Cook moves away into position for the head back across goal. Superb stuff. Excellent defensive display and some good saves from Begovic. Finally, another superb turn out by our away support. On to Saturday. I'm there so please God keep this going!
Whats most enjoyable is that its exactly what other clubs have done to us at Loftus Road for ever. How many times have you walked out shaking your head as the away fans celebrate a win from a centre-half corner routine.
Crystal Palace, Wolves, Ipswich, Burnley and Celtic are all reportedly interested in signing Jake Clarke-Salter this summer ... Ex-Chelsea ace and QPR star Jake Clarke-Salter at centre of three-way Premier League transfer battle | The Sun please log in to view this image
I was only thinking yesterday he would be a target for any clubs in the bottom third of EPL or going up there this year. He’s had a very good year to be fair and a good investment at just 26 for his position. The right price for the club, he still has 2yrs on his contract, and right contract for him it’s hard to imagine him staying unfortunately.
Yeah he’s had a great few months but we’ve made the mistake of not selling players when their value is highest a few times in the recent past and you’d trust Cifuentes/staff to find a replacement. Hard to know what a good price is these days but you’d like to think it would be significant. Burnley spent €15m on a centre-half not long ago who I wouldn’t know if he walked into the room now.
Another great day out after travelling to London on Good Friday. We flew to Bristol and got the train from there to Swansea. There was a problem with the lines from Cardiff Central to Swansea so we had to take a rail replacement bus. It stopped at about 5 towns on the way including Port Talbot which must be the ugliest town I have ever seen lol. The bus journey took nearly 2 hours. We were delighted to finally get to Swansea and enjoyed some refreshments with some friendly locals pre-match. The match itself wasn't great. I felt we would not concede and that we might nick a goal and that's exactly what happened. Cifuentes has made us defensively solid. We will have some job holding on to him this Summer. I would imagine there will be a host of clubs looking for his services after the job he has done with us. Great celebrations at full time. Fair play to the players. Every single one of them put in a shift. The train transport worked perfectly on the way home but the flight was delayed 35 minutes. Arrived home at 12.30 exhausted but happy. Looking forward to Saturday now. Win that and I think we are 100% safe.
