I am as frustrated as most supporters who watch some of our stuff (when it is slow and lacking the flair we know could be delivered if they were let off the leash a bit) however I think Rosenior has to be given more time. What he needs to do with that time is amend the approach we take to certain situations.

    Very much this

PS Also hoping your name is due to being a fan of the Minutemen…the band rather than the American militia?

It is indeed the band! I was young and unaware of any other associations when I created my account.

Then promptly released because he was not good enough for them 2 years ago.
He’ll be gone in the summer!

Not so sure he will. There are plenty of older players get let go in the prem but can still do a job in the championship.

I wouldn't be surprised if we bring in a potential successor though, and he's used less.

If you didn’t have a clue who he was you’d think he was 108 years old after reading this board.
    He’s 32 years old :)
We signed George boeteng when he was 108 in the pl

We were warned by Derby fans. Boring football, little end product.
Rosie talks like he invented playing out from the back. Half the teams in the championship play the same way.
With the exception of the 3 premier league relegated sides and Ipswich, most of the teams have been average hence why we ended up sitting pretty at the end of the jan window. Five draws and two defeats later has killed our chances.
He needs to go. He’s not as good as he thinks he is, and the excuses are becoming boring.

    Great band.
Mike Watt was my favourite bassist at the time (loved his stuff with Firehose too, maybe more)

I can’t believe I’m the one to say this as I’m very critical of LR but I don’t think he should be sacked yet

Let’s have a bit of perspective

We’re a team that was left to rot for years, we were in League One just 3 years ago signing players on free transfers from the national league and the Austrian second division :emoticon-0102-bigsm

I think we’ve all been caught up in the Acun hype, he’s going to come in, sign all the best players for peanuts, get the best manager, and we’re going to get promoted out of one of the hardest leagues in the world within a year and then sell some players for a billion quid profit.

Come on do you really think it would be that easy?

We need to give LR and the club more time to build up bit by bit. If we improve each season then we will get promoted eventually, not everyone can do an Ipswich.

Although it’s frustrating and there’s been some **** results we are improving and I don’t think anyone can deny that.

Some very good discussion on the Not The Top 20 podcast about manager and player pressures and expectations these days in football, and that either you're a side pushing for promotion or the manager is garbage and should go. There's not a whole lot of room for nuance and greys in between. I think that applies somewhat in our situation with Rosenior. As someone posted above, it's not that many years since we were a League One side with free transfers filling out the squad. Each season if not each window we've seen a drastic up-scaling in terms of expectations and belief and ambition in terms of player targets.

This coming summer seems just about the first 'plateau' under Acun where I can't see us signing players at a level higher than we signed in the January just gone, and in that sense should give us some ability to catch our breaths and fill out the squad where needed. I think that means we really should give Rosenior at least until October/November before deciding he's not up to it. It means he'll have had two years in charge, had the chance to put his players in all across the squad, and have them playing exactly how he wants. He's got the fitness issues largely solved, he's got the passing out from the back solved (in terms of the players being used to what he wants), now it's about getting the wins and results and the goals to go with it. That should have come this season but with the chopping and changing of the squad I think there's somewhat of an out there, but there's no outs next season.

Two years in a job in football is a very generous term regardless of my first point around knee jerk reactions to managers, and I think it's reasonable at that stage to say to Rosenior that our expectation is top 2 next season with play offs a minimum. If we're not tracking above 2PPG in November I think conversations can reasonably be had. And if anyone thinks that's too late and writing off a season, there's plenty of examples of clubs turning things around, and unless he has us bottom 3, there's no real danger.

Nobody has denied we've improved on last season. The argument from me is simply how far can these tactics actually take us? I think we're limiting ourselves. I'm glad you mentioned Ipswich though - Why exactly couldn't we do an Ipswich? A team that go for it and regularly get their just rewards. My only issie woth Rosenior is that for me, he needs to look at how he's setting us up and make some changes in order to get the most out of the team. If he can do that then great. If not then I think it'll be a matter of time. If it doesn't work out then in my opinion its time that's somewhat wasted. All he needs to do for me is stop sticking so strictly to this plan.

Because Ipswich is lightening in a bottle, with a consistent squad that has come up the league together and a manager with a defined way of playing. We have part of that puzzle but haven't come upon the squad to do it. I look back at Shota whenever people say we should just let the players play and remember how chaotic it was. Sometimes it worked and we'd get great results, and other times we were blown apart. It was the same under Slutsky. Maybe that would have been better? Acun wanted 4-3 games after all..

Out of curiosity, what do you think we're missing in order to make this playing style successful?

What does success mean to you, promotion? Ie - what's the measure for success?

Do you think we should alter the play style to fit what/who we have, or persist with it regardless?

Do you think its possible that perhaps the way we play just isn't that effective or do you believe we could be nearer the top of the table playing this way? Ie - is there a limit to how far we can go playing this way?

Do you think Rosenior already has the players he's asked for this season, or the tools available to be more successful?

Not trying to catch you out, I'm just genuinely curious. For me; the mark of a good manager is one who gets the most out of what he's got. Right now I don't think that's us...
