I know my memory's fading but I think he was here five years, in his early twenties and never got on the pitch. He did well with Sheff Utd though, despite them being an average side imo.
One of the things bothering me about the summer period is the Euros are on. As is the Copa and the Olympics. Summers like this always see things slow down until tournaments are done, players cram in holidays etc. Clubs higher up the food chain wait to see which of their players get interest off the back of international tournaments before going after replacements. We might well be back in pre-season before we can sell one of our big players and then move to sort out our squad. I fear we may end up with a slow start next season with a new gaffer having to get a message across to players who know they are probably moving on and others yet to bs through the door.
He did mate, but my point is he knows the club and the area well despite not being the best of players
He’s not the right fit, he’s just another boring uninspired cheap choice. if he is appointed, he’ll be gone by January.
One of my top choices tbh. City trusted him with McAtee and Doyle on loan so he's clearly a well regarded coach. Has a nasty streak about him which I want here. Took a bang average Sheff Utd side from 17th to the playoffs and then got promoted the season after 11 points clear of 3rd place.
Could do a lot worse than Heckingbottom. A lot worse. Fans seem to want championship experience for players but a young foreign kid as manager.
I will be honest here, I have no idea who I want to be coach, but they need to make sure the recruitment of players is also spot on
It's easier to say he's awful so that you can then say "I told you all he'd be awful" when things go wrong, and casually forget about it when things don't. Personally I can see why he's underwhelming to some. But he'd be solid. Could do a lot worse.
i have started to come around to idea of Heckingbottom like you say it starange most of us want experienced players and then some of same people wany a very young manager that never worked in championship before but who ever the manger will be they will be working with one hand tied behind back if they wont allow some experienced players in we be just repeating the same old mistakes and nothing will be learned
He wouldn't be the worst head coach in the world if he did get the gig, but after the last appointment going so badly wrong, KS has backed himself into a corner with no wriggle room. I can only see this being negatively received by the fan base, who want to see a high profile head coach appointed and nothing less. Just my opinion of course.
Oh yeah, I get why people would be underwhelmed by him. I understand why people were underwhelmed by Beale. I understand why people were underwhelmed by Mowbray. You'd have thought that people would have learnt to look beyond that by now though.
I agree. I don't think it will be him. I'd be happy if it was though. I think the club will think that they have to hit PR nail right on the head with the next appointment. It's a position we/they shouldn't be in though.
Personally I don't think they have a clue who to get. History dictates that it'll be someone out of work at the minute and someone willing to work within the restraints. My feeling is that in one season they don't want to have had 3 permanent managers/Coach's and Dodds in the hot seat twice holding the fort. Two permanents and two runs for Dodds is more than enough egg on our faces. I could be wrong like.
I think they know exactly who they want. WILL we STILL want him after the first couple of bad results though?
