Bad result, but we were the better team for 90% of the game, I hope that we can play like this leading up to and in the play-offs, I think that we will win them, should be exciting and i'm almost glad that the pressure is off now. We lost the game going for the 3 points we needed, i'm not bothered about them winning it at the end.
I have to say I think it was a good game today and in isolation you say away to the top team in the league these things do just happen sometimes. In context though it is not a one off, we have choked multiple games with poor defending, weak mentality and bad subs from the manager ever since our (excellent) run of form ended. We are simply not good enough for the automatic spots, play-off promotion is a possibility but I have doubts that our team is mentally up for the fight, they wilt far too easily and this is a problem that way predates this season. That being said the thought of a play off final v Leicester where both teams aggressively try to lose is quite amusing in a sadistic way.
1st was blasted and went pretty much the only place in which it would have been a difficult save. 2nd didn’t set great, but lack of pressure on an outfield player from our defence isn’t a goalkeeper issue 3rd really? Half the fan base hate how we pass it around the back especially when down to 10 in the last minute… but when it clears it, we blame him. We had chances to pressure and challenge for the ball before the cross. Lastly, how can we not be sure that he got a signal from the sideline to clear, as a min prior he went for a quick throw out to Stephens, who passed it to Adarma to badly control and give it back. Shall we blame it on Adarma for losing the ball prior? Our defending throughout the team is awful. That doesn’t fall solely on the keeper.
Only really in the first half. We were quite poor 2nd once Ipswich stepped up a gear. Pretty much similar against a lot of teams recently.
I regret to say that we’re probably going to be fourth after the playoffs. My confidence in RM has taken a steep nosedive in the last two months.
I don't blame anyone. This is football. They don't do it on purpose and Ipswich got the momentum and the crowd behind them. We are where we are. We can actually win the playoffs. And it is a better way to go up. We'll laugh at this one day.
Its both, defending hasnt been good enough (it hasnt been since RM started ****ing around with the backline when Stephens came back to fitness), but he didnt perform well enough today as well. I dont have the absolute seething dislike of him that some do on here, but I really do think he was poor today.
