Other results today mostly worked in our favour, Sheff Wed losing, Millwall losing to dead dog Rotherham, Stoke/Huddersfield splitting, Plymouth losing. I believe given our current form that we are safe now, but not mathematically of course.
"but what side of the dotted line you end up on in May is decided one way or another by a series of moments. These can be refereeing decisions, incredible goals, injury time equalisers, key players snapping their shins, penalties missed and penalties scored. If the moments start stacking up in your favour, you might just be okay. If they don’t… well, it might be time to see if that pub on the roundabout in Stockport is still a thing" After the spurned first half chances I kept thinking about the above from Clive's last report and how our current habit of not taking our chances is going to bite us. But then we get another thunderbolt goal from a defender, we get a lucky escape with that ball that looped over Begovic and onto the post and now I'm thinking maybe the 'moments' are starting to stack in our favour after all. One more win should do us shouldn't it? Also on Begovic, he's been rightfully maligned in recent weeks but made a handful of key stops today.
Isaac Hayden ... “I had to take a pay-cut to go to QPR, which I was happy to do for the last few months of the season, to get games.'' “But it’ll be back to square one in the summer but hopefully I can help keep QPR up and would love to stay here if possible.”
I think Bergovic does far more good than bad and he is obviously is giving the defenders a huge amount of confidence. He had made a couple of howlers but is there a perfect goalkeeper out there? Jimmy Dunne is reborn that run he went on in the first half, Dunnenio style.
Do we think Jimmy could be good enough to nail down the RB spot or is that getting too carried away? His height at set pieces has been beyond valuable in the last two games.
Didn't see the game, but it's another brilliant result and there seems to be a real togetherness in the group. Everything is good, we're staying up and will be promoted next season.
So, a few questions after today's game which I think we need to seriously discuss. (1) Who are we going to commission to sculpt the statue of Marti Cifuentes? (2) Where will we place the statue? (3) Who shall we invite to do the unveiling? (4) Now Marti has earnt himself a better chant than the paella dross, what should we sing for him?
Need to win at home to Sheff. Weds; then seal it with a win at Plymouth. We can then relax in the rest of the games and challenge ourselves through to the end of this season.
That was then and this now, but what scares me still is that in 2013 the Posh were relegated after a season total of 54 points. Can't take our foot off the gas just yet
In recent weeks it has been a pleasure to support the boys again for the first time in ages. Marti has got the team connected with the fans and to see the boys giving 100% week in week out is all we can ever ask. I’ve now watched the Hoops at nearly 60 grounds. I thought in November I would be adding another 10 next year - I’ll probably struggle to get one now. URsssss!!!!!
