Far too defensively set up today, and not been good enough in defence or on the ball, we’ve played right into Leicester’s hands. We were the form side going into this, why not go on the attack
Should have really gone at them once we got that goal but instead we sat everyone behind the ball. Barnes and Sargent spent most of the game midway in our half. Need to go to a 4-3-3 earlier
Goal kick , Gibson walks forward puts it sideways to Duffy who just boots it at a Leicester player then Gibson does exactly the same thing. The ref blew every time Leicester players fell over. We can only play one way sitting on a 1 zero lead just never works
Not that disappointed. Playing away against the best team we've faced all season, and they were bound to be up for it after losing at Bristol. Sara's goal was excellent but they scored two PL class goals to overcome it.
Also for Leicester it was a must win game, for us anything we got from the game was a bonus. Look at the subs Leicester were able to make. Meanwhile we're replacing a make do CB with CB returning from injury less than a quarter of the way into the game.
I think Wagner got the tactics wrong today, but that happens, to be fair that has rarely happened in 2024. Sets up our next game nicely, can see us winning next week and doing Leicester another favour.
Coventry lose at home and Preston lose away. Good results for us. Hull away to Leeds. It could be another loss.
It turned out not such a bad day after all as Coventry lost 1-2 at home to Cardiff (two own goals by their CB Kitchling) and Preston lost 1-0 away at Birmingham. West Brom managed a 2-2 draw at home to Watford courtesy of a late equaliser in stoppage time. Our hardest game is out of the way and our fate is still in our own hands. Edit: Snap CitySlicker!
Calmed down a bit now, the game plan could have worked had we used the ball better when in possession, unfortunately we weren’t good enough on the ball. I though Sara had a poor game other than his goal, McLean looked good at the start but faded, McCallum was caught out several times and Barnes and Sarge really struggled to get any service. I would have liked us to impose ourselves on the game more but we also have to recognise the strength of this Leicester side which still has a couple of PL winners in it, various internationals for top international sides, a winger that we were interested in but couldn’t compete for financially. We move on, hopefully this loss fires them up to put it right at fortress Carrow Road on Saturday!
I don’t know - the problem is that we were away from home (where we cannot really claim to be in form all that much!) and games which are just a few days apart so seem to throw up more random results. Plus they had the need to bounce back factor. Our major problem was our midfield were dominated - I felt like Wagner shouldn’t have started Barnes, but with the form this starting XI was in you can see the logic.
Yep - oddly, we’ve actually ended up in a slightly better position than we started simply because of points in the bag and one game fewer for those below us to catch up
